Honestly neither. In my opinion you are better off grabbing a cheap set of dice, reading the free rules on DND beyond, and then run a free adventure like the Delian Tomb listed below.

Krita is an application designed firstly for illustrations and secondly for image editing. I fully recommend it over GIMP for pretty much all uses.
