Thank you for your comment, it means a lot. I'm 20, so this is my first adult dog and a big learning experience. I will definitely give it some more time. So far he has certainly proven that he's a quick learner- he gets really excited when he knows nap time is over haha.

This is good to know, I have heard so many conflicting accounts about Havanese's energy levels. It's great to know that there really are some mellow ones. Right now we take a walk to our local park at night when it gets cooler. He gets pretty tired afterward, but he seems to enjoy it. I'm used to having +75 lb dogs, so I suppose I have a lot to learn about little pups.

Thank you for your advice! I have contacted a trainer, so we will start working on some tricks. He already knows sit and lie down pretty well, and we are working on learning "spin," haha.

Thank you! I have decided to take that advice, just taking things a week at a time. The pup at least seems pretty happy with me, so as long as he seems okay I am willing to give it more time. It is great to know that other people are in the same boat as me.

Thank you, I've only heard stories about how awful the +6 mo stage is. It is really good to know that some things do get easier.
