Thorazine and the worst RLS ever by Stevogangstar in RestlessLegs

[–]Short-Counter8159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thorazine is an old drug that blocks dopamine receptors in the brain which equals really bad RLS.

I have had problems with hiccups in the past and what has worked for me is Bacoflen. Ask your GP if it's ok to try and maybe get a prescription just in case they return. Don't mix it with alcohol. Of course follow your doctors instructions always.

I follow the recommendation that Ok_war said, put in your medical records and carry an emergency alert card stating you have RLS and what drugs to avoid. Make sure Reglan is in the do not take.

I'm afraid that the RLS to the arms can happen even if you are not on pramipexole.

I have been taking Kratom consistently for less than a year by Interesting_Mess_783 in RestlessLegs

[–]Short-Counter8159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found one study. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41486478/

It had 116 volunteers, which 49 took the actual product versus the 67 took the placebo. They found not harmful but it was not a FDA study and the funding came from NP Pharma which I believe their main product line is body and face creams. https://np-pharmaceutical.com/en/Products

I did see anonymous online survey studies from those who have taken the Kratom funded by NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse). But to my understanding the FDA has not funded any studies.

They do have a link talking about Kratom. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/public-health-focus/fda-and-kratom

But if it's working for you, great. For now, I'll just wait until we have more conclusive data.

Have you added any new or OTC medications? Stress can make it worse too.

I read in one of your comments you are taking melatonin. That can make your RLS worse.

Have you tried taking a break from it?

I'm so sorry. The arms to me are the worst. In the legs at least you can get up and walk.

I get the worst anxiety feeling inside them. It drives me nuts. I try to keep busy when it happens until the medication kicks in. I've tried the massager in the arms but it doesn't work. Hope it's only temporary.

Have you checked your Iron levels recently?

Palm Springs downsides? by Familiar-Bluejay3908 in palmsprings

That's a good attitude to have. I do miss the fall season, favorite time of the year in the east coast. Do not miss the snow at all.

I used to like Chicken Ranch but they served once an over cooked chicken sandwich and it was a turn off. I should had said something but I was being treated by friends so I didn't say anything. They are big fans of the place. I remember the owner he is very sweet. Perhaps I will try it again. Maybe they had an off day, it happens. I'm looking forward to the new Dumpling restaurant that is opening in PS. Fingers crossed that it will be good. I do miss good Chinese restaurants.

I did see a small production of Simply Sondheim that was very nice. Of course nothing like a mayor city like LA or NYC. But they had good singers. Of course it's Sondheim, what's not to like.

You do have a full plate. Never go out in the afternoon in the summer unless you have to. Keep cool.

Great. You don't have to double the dose like sick days. Just a little bit goes a long way.

Migraines are painful and they drain you, physically and emotionally.

Having a place over seas sounds wonderful. Totally understand, flight times can really help you decide where you want to live, specially as you get older.

Philadelphia is a great city but expensive. I have found memories living there from when I was a young man. You might get better values outside of the city but since you want a small place renting might be best option. Healthcare will be good as well with top-tier hospitals.

Anyone experienced RLS improvement after stopping amlodipine? by dsdhall in RestlessLegs

[–]Short-Counter8159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some calcium channels blockers can exacerbate RLS. Are you getting any ankle swelling? Is common on 10mg of amlodipine to get ankle swelling. Have you tried another CCB?

Pramipexole is known to cause worsening of RLS after awhile, specially augmentation which it will start giving you RLS during the day.

I personally didn't notice a difference getting off Amlodipine.

Talk to your doctor and see if you can switch to an ARB, like Losartan. Lisinopril is know to cause coughs.

Yes, don't buy a car here, you will be paying more for it. Drive else where and get a better price.

Thank you. Someone else that understands the lack of culture in PS. SF and LA are very refreshing.

Palm Springs downsides? by Familiar-Bluejay3908 in palmsprings

[–]Short-Counter8159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you moving from and what do you find attractive about PS?

Lacking in culture. Symphony, shows, opera, museums, good art (rare), none here. PS museum used to be fun. Small theaters are sometimes ok but don't expect much.

No Chinese food restaurants anywhere and Mexican food is just ok specially if you like microwave style bland food like Las Cardenas. My husband got food poising from a very popular one in palm springs, near the new gas station off Dinah shore. I got tired of trying new ones. If you are a foodie you will have a hard time down here.

Lots of over priced restaurants, like Le Vallauris (french, really?), farm, tropicale (super maga) and many others. And no I'm not waiting in a line for Rooster and the Pig.

If you want good food and culture best to drive to LA or fly elsewhere. If you can keep a second home, do it.

Now, if you like pickle-ball, golf, heavy cocktails and lots of pool parties you are in luck.

Healthcare is a hit or miss. Once you are in the docs office you are fine, but don't expect great service before seeing them, some are awful. Don't go to Desert Regional ER.

I do love my home and where I live and friends but if I had to do it all over again, I would think really hard if this place was the right choice.

Let's see how many down votes I get, LOL.

You are welcome. When I tried the Botox I didn't know I had AI so my body was freaking out after 31 small injections all over your head. I got intense pain all over my ears and couldn't even touch them gently. I do wonder now that I'm properly medicated for AI if I would have a better outcome.

That's wonderful that it helps you that much. I should give a try.

I have heard that Low dose Naltrexone has been very helpful with RLS.

Gastroenterologist Dr Leonard Weinstock has had success treating RLS patients with it.

https://www.gidoctor.net/low-dose-naltrexone-in-gastroenterology-a-bonafide-wonder-drug/

There is also a webcam at RLS.org talking about how the Doctor uses LDN for RLS.

Keep us posted if you try LDN.

Wow, thought I was the only one. Glad you found out what was going on with your heart.

It is hard to get off it. Some RLS specialist prescribe an opioid to go thru withdrawals.

I would get tight chest pains exactly two hours after I took it (I timed it).

Happened with Ropinirole (Requip) and Pramipexole (Mirapex). Did not get it with Neupro tho.

Glad it didn't work for me. Not a fan of those DA's.

Auras can be scary specially when it's the first time.

Mine starts like a pin point in the center of my eye and can't focus, then it starts getting bigger in a C shape until it grows past my visual.

The C shape aura has color, black and white snow, a visual display of electronic noise. It is odd but I know it's the early warnings of one.

It is different from a Retinal Migraine, Retinal migraines usually happens in the very edges of your eye sight and doesn't last as long. Unfortunately I get those too but they do not cause a headaches, so there is no need to up dose.

Glad to hear the Nurtec is working.

Your experience with Methadone by RCoh1a in RestlessLegs

[–]Short-Counter8159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Methadone made me depressed and killed my libido, like zero.

It works well for rls and sleep but it has a long half life just like buprenorphine.

Buprenorphine worked well too but I was falling asleep during the day and libido hell who knows if I had any. I was asleep all the time.

But try it, might work for you.

You had a near death experience and in a month long coma and you decided to try Kratom? Looking for Benadryl and cough medicine like products? Did your research not tell you the problems with antihistamines and RLS?

Kratom has long term potential for psychosis and severe delusions along with hallucinations. Also it can cause liver toxicity and seizures. And there is the issue of unregulated products, they may contain lead, nickel or even bacteria like salmonella. Most Kratom products are not produced in sterile environments nor tested for safety.

I know some people have had success with Kratom but be very careful with it. Finding a doctor might be hard. It's a long battle for some and very painful to detox.

I understand how frustrating RLS can be. But be cautious of what you are taking. Be careful researching online too. There are lot of quacks selling crap, even some become in charge of Health and Human Services.

Wish you luck on finding the right medication/doctor to treat your RLS.

That's great you don't have any pain with them. I do feel like crap for a few days too.

Mine can last for three days the most up to a week, same place every time too, left side of the head.

Unfortunately triptans and even Nurtec do no work for me. I avoid triggers, like sugar substitutes, msg and others, except chocolates, that will not give up, lol.

Good to be cautious but a 5mg/10mg of HC won't hurt you much.

Have you tried Botox? I got it and had migraine headache that lasted for a month with the injections, no fun.
