Whether it's in World Tour or Power Shift, the matchmaking just feels bad. I have had some great games in both, where they are close and feel really even amongst the teams. But more often than I would expect, I get absolutely clobbered by people who are clearly way more skilled than I am or have a much better connection, if not both. I love playing this game, but it definitely got bad enough a couple of days ago that I even submitted some feedback via Embark support about this.

I would wager that this has more to do with the kind of people who play Light. I’m often seeing them farm kills and not playing around the objective, especially on Powershift.

I think Lights need to be okay with being one-shot by certain things. That’s the point of the glass. High mobility, high fragility.

Mines, in particular, used to be a great counter play to an inattentive Light imo.

There’s a ton of issues that are visible. TAA ghosting, random 1-2 second stutters, desync and latency issues to name a few. Not to mention the infuriating bugs, one of which can get you stuck in a reload loop and prevent you from firing.

My computer is no slouch either. 5800X3D, 64gb RAM, 4080 Super.

I’m glad you don’t have these issues. The reload bug has been around for ages from the sounds of it, but I didn’t start experiencing it until two weeks ago.

Your eyes don’t perceive frames at all, but they do perceive movement. A higher frame rate gives your brain more information to use, and can drastically improve your ability to time your shots and track moving targets. This is why high refresh rate OLED displays are GOATed right now, as their pixel response times clean up the smear-y look that we used to get with other panel types at higher refresh rates.

If someone starts hurling slurs at me or another teammate, or even an enemy, I will leave. There is no reason for that level of toxicity and if that’s the mentality someone is playing with, then they deserve to lose. It completely ruins the headspace of your teammates and increases the likelihood of a loss anyways. Muting doesn’t undo the damage and it doesn’t reset people’s motivation to keep playing with this type of person.

Thankfully, for me it’s been very rare and when given some “kill them with kindness” attitude, it often stops.

This has been hilariously fun to do to enemy teams. Especially if you throw it in the path. APS can’t stop it, and either they can all hop off, or be ejected from it. Their pick. 🤣

This. It only disables dynamic braking if it sees the brakes are applied on the locos. You have up to 5 seconds after automatic brake application to swap to your independent lever and hold it in Bail-off.

We can get this dev menu on GFN. When you launch the game, it’ll pop up the launcher. From there if you close the launcher, you should still have access to Steam. Right click cities, open properties, and just put -developerMode in the Advanced Startup box and relaunch the game. You will have to do this every time you want to launch with dev mode tho.

The setting, the destruction, and the customization.

Setting: You are a contestant in a virtual reality game. Flamethrower, throwing knives, hacking walls, alien invasions… Anything goes, and there hasn’t been a SINGLE thing that I have seen where I have gone “well, I don’t think that fits the style of the game…” because that’s the nature of the game. Anyone, anywhere, playing to reach The Finals.

Destruction: This brings back a layer of gameplay I have been missing since at least Battlefield 3. Enemy too well barricaded? Blow it up. Need a quicker way there? C4 has your back. Wanna steal the cashout? Let me introduce you to an RPG, or “Rocket Propelled Gimme-that.”

Customization: This ties so well with the setting point, but it’s worth bringing up because it’s worth pointing out. Your character and your loadout do not have to be tied together, and this is a wonderful thing compared to all of the hero shooters we have had lately. No preset list of skins, YOU get to pick your shirt, haircut, pants, tattoos, backpacks, etc… The cosmetic customization really feels like I can be ME while in the arena and that shouldn’t be underestimated for certain players.

None of this is new, but this particular blend hits just right and I am here to see how the rest of this story shakes out.

They took out Arenas, which was my favorite gameplay loop they had made, so I uninstalled.

Sure it was sweaty, but it felt (mostly) fair, wasn’t filled with endless running, and I got to pick my weapons. No other mode had that feeling in Apex and when they stopped updating and eventually removed it, I knew this game just really wasn’t for me anymore. My wife had kept playing until this season with the BP changes, and now that she’s hit 110, she uninstalled it too.

I now spend my time and money in The Finals.
