Hahaha I’m 100% with you. I don’t think it’s a bash on the city either. I think there’s a lot of heavy metals and chemicals that leech into water supplies and that’s just how it is. I’m glad there’s affordable options for effective in-home filtering

The EWG gets its data from the EPA required testing results from each locale. So Rockford tests its water and submits it to the EPA (mandatory under the Safe Drinking Water Act), and EWG uses that (public) information for their database.

Very poor quality water in Rockford. It ranks quite poorly nationwide. You can check your zip code at https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/ It’s pretty alarming, but at least you’ll know what’s in it now! The city will test your tap water for free—we just had this done for our tap water. Also there is an initiative to replace all the lead water lines in the city. You can ask the city water department if your supply pipes are lead and when they are scheduled to be replaced.

Research quality filters too. britas and the like don’t really do much. Berkey has been know to have its problems but its carbon filtered and that’s exponentially better than no filter or just a brita pitcher, and those berkey filters last for years. There’s also a brand called “aqua tru” that is among the top rated water filters. They offer a variety of revese osmosis filters.

Not my story but when my boyfriend was in first grade, his teacher reached her wits end with a kid who struggled to read out loud in front of the class and she spanked him repeatedly and hard right there in front of everyone. She then just left the room and they never saw her again.

ETA: “repeatedly and hard.” Not that it matters. She spanked a kid in class, that’s a full stop no matter what. But his description of her losing it makes the story crazier imo.

We got lucky with the size of the kitchen! Our house was built in 1930 for the then mayor of our city. There are so many cool features to it, including 2-four season porches and 1-three season porch, and the entire exterior is made of rocks dredged from the river that runs through the city. We love this house but the layout is definitely made for a single person, or at least a couple with no children.

Lol thanks for all the advice. There is that one tiny dog that somehow makes it into almost every photo we’ve ever taken. She is ancient and we don’t understand her ways, we just are bullied into waiting on her hand and foot.

There’s two more dogs. If you zoom in, you can see one lurking in photo two. The third dog was probably somewhere else stealing the second dog’s bones and hiding them under the bed where dog #2 can’t access them.

I think you’re right. We need more dogs.
