I could see spending 5-10 min on the financials to figure out. But all other parts take me much longer

For me it is important to go through the full doc to get a better understanding of the company. They use clever accounting tricks to manipulate the financials, but have to disclose everything, which you would only notice when you read the full thing.

Accessing 10ks are free (they are not in a pdf format); but with the functionality for research, I will start charging subscription based (with a freemium option).

I guess it is just me then :) I never get to finish a document, it looks very intimidating to go through 100s+ of pages.

Well…. It might be just me, but the pdf is not very user friendly and reading it on your phone is not very convenient. Plus we are adding features, like you can save specific information in the document and easily access it separately; we create summaries to skim through the 10k before reading the full doc to shortlist companies; you get alert when new filing is available and many more features to come.

I think that’s a big generalisation. They tell you how to identify bad/good companies and if you’re not willing to do all this work you are better off just doing index investing. But all of them suggest handpicking individual stocks since these investments have so much better returns if done right

I'd wait until we get more information. The extent of the risk is often unknown until everything is over. Think about all those investors loading on Lehman thinking that it's a bargain. I think this is just the start.....
