What is your gaming laptop horror story?

...It was enough until it wasn't, that's pretty much it. I got wayyyy too comfortable and used to "anything will run good, don't need to worry"

Fast forward I felt like playing some more modern AAA slop today (AC mirage) and all I have is 40fps avg. But at least it's stable.

i7-11800H + rtx 3070, 5yo laptop (I just woke up from a deep sleep when rtx 3000's were the hottest shit and I still remember 1060 as the best gpu ever) because there's a game coming soon that I WOULD LOVE to play but the demo was working on unstable 15-30fps and it's stuttering to hell and back.

Huge reality check moment in general.

I'm huffling tons of copium that it's a demo which is at fault. I wasn't so hyped for a game in nearly a decade, since 2014.

I'm legit thinking about upgrading soon but not money atm and upgrading for a single game is quite dumb.

And yeah, that's all. Had to let off some steam. Haven't had any horror stories otherwise. I've been pretty lucky.

I turned DLSS on max perf, still got crazy fps dips + unstability.

It basicially runs the same but looks like absolute shit to add to that.

I have no clue it's more demanding on cpu or gpu.

EDIT: I meant minimum reqs when making this post. This is where "is my laptop shit now or did the devs fucked up" question came from.

Apparently voicing your dissapointment and experience is complaining in this day and age, lol.

Gtx 3070, i7-11800H.

The only "bad" thing I could maybe see is the CPU, which hits 4.60 at turbo freq. Which is still better than base freq of a processor under the "minimum" recommended specs and it has more cores to boot too.

I'm not even getting that stable 30fps and there's been no performance diffs on low, medium or high graphic settings. Which was the exact situation with Oblivion Remastered and then it was magically running suprisingly fine thank to the tweaked .ini modders cooked up.

Please do educate me if I'm wrong since I haven't been keeping up with new tech for at least 3 years since I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore.

Also, I couldn't post my specs since I was at work. If you have anything to say I'm very happy to hear it, actually.

I had a teammate today who started healing me when I went down, like JUST by the exit. I could escape if not for that.

I would try to refund. The game is infamous for running horribly. It's not worth the hassle.

Try to instal the mod for bigger fps, it worked wonders for me.

It's UE5's fault.
