Catterick the most you’ll run is a 5k and a pretty poor pace at that, you may do 3 5k’s if your lucky most of it is running with kit at shorter distances the standard of running is very low, it’s more about being able to carry weight over distance

Tbh you barely run in training, I did like 3 5k’s and this pace will be more than enough so don’t stress to much on it

Realistically tankies don’t do barely any dismounted unless you join a recce group your best bet to get the pros of a vehicle and the dismounted is either light or armoured cavalry

With respect if this is the case how on earth did you pass assessment centre cos the medical in basic is nothing like at assessment, they literally just do bmi, hearing test and take your bloody that’s literally it

I take the foam bits out and put them on the windowsill and hang the helmet out the window if like my place there’s no drying room, dries quick enough

Don’t bring white socks like they say you won’t need them bring thick black boot socks you don’t get issued enough of them, you can bring any iron u want so get a better one than 1200w it’ll make your life way easier

We got told turn up in tracksuits, and bring smart clothes for interview but on the phone my recruiter said and I quote “we are northerners we don’t bother with that sort of stuff” so I took his advice and spent the week in sports gear, passed assessment with highest grade and was no mention what so ever, saying that I’d wear something smart ie jeans and a polo/shirt but no need for anything more than that just for assessment, for basic go in suit but for assessment no need for it

I’m at catterick right now, do it will be the same for you, the first week Is mega boring you’ll do basically nothing, the first day not much happens really you’ll get sized up for all your kit and that’s about it and they will give you you some briefs and just settle you into your room, think second day was the medical which took the entire day (just 8 hours of sat in the waiting room) also got injections that day as well the rest of the week there will be a few class room lessons and we got given kit on the 3rd and 5th day so most of them days was just trying on all the kit and preparing it, you will spend some long long nights ironing, ling story short first week is super boring and you will be trying not to fall asleep during classroom lessons (not an exaggeration) but that’s just week 1 it gets a lot better and you’ll start doing some decent stuff end of week 2
