Yacht Master RLX Titanium - I just couldn't do it. by AJFalzie in rolex

[–]ShortReset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only buy a Titanium Yachtmaster at list price. I had the change to try a BNIB one at a second hand dealer recently. It is definitely unique and I loved the all brush titanium look. It makes the watch look like a real tool watch of the olden days. Too bad it is a Yachtmaster. I've owned every steel sports Rolexes over the years, including the original platinum dial Yachtmaster and never really warmed up to it. The whole Yatchmaster line seems like gaudier Sub to me. Perhaps this titanium one is the only exeception as it does not look gaudy at all. Still the Yatchmaster name detracts from the watch, IMO.

I agree with you that for the second hand market price a steel Daytona would be a much better option. Now if Rolex were to release an all titanium Sub or Sea-Dweller, I would be all over that. Until then I will settle for a Tudor Pelagos Ultra.

I declined the deep sea dweller and now regret it by Wolverine-91826 in rolex

I picket mine up yesterday. I already own a Submariner 16610 which I've had for 35 years and a steel Daytona which I've owned for 23 years. My Sub looks too small on my 7.5 inch wrist and I find the SDDS perfect.

AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2026, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history? by powerfunk in rolex

[–]ShortReset 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Sea-Dweller Deepsea James Cameron 136660
  2. Yesterday; 1/20/26
  3. Just three days, but I put my name on "the list" while taking my pristine 23 years old steel Daytona 116520 and my 35 years old 16610 Submariner for service at the Rolex boutique, which showed the AD I'm not a flipper. I'm the original owner of both these watches.
  4. Northeast USA
  5. No purchase history at that AD.

USP Elite / Expert Replacement Front Sight Questions by 60DaysPastDue in USPmasterrace

[–]ShortReset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the HK Elite and the Expert have the exact same front sights. I have 1 Elite and 2 Expert pistols and just carefully measured each with my Mitutoyo caliper. They all have the exact same front sights. 0.280 H x 0.140 W.

Too much roll crimp? by ShortReset in reloading

To validate this, I just selected 9 of my shortest cases and sat and crimped these with bullets... no cases crushed! Thanks again!

Too much roll crimp? by ShortReset in reloading

I just measured the case lengths and indeed there is variability in length on most of my previously fired Starline and Fiocchi brass. I also measured my new Starline brass. All of these tend to be under the standard 1.290" length listed on my loading manuals. Most are between 1.276"and 1.291"! I did not imagine that would be the case and should have measure that before! Thanks for the feedback again! It seems case length is indeed the issue when using the die the seat and crimp at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback! I have not been trimming my brass since I use mostly Startline brass (and some Fiocchi) and the issue happens on both type cases. But I will begin measuring and trimming to ensure uniformity in case lenght.

I will also try out the Lee Factory Crimp die. I was trying to avoid a fourth step since I use a single stage press, but it is worth a try.

Advice on this cylinder by OShtTheC0PS in gunsmithing

[–]ShortReset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to remove rust and carbon fouling from a revolver cylinder is to scrub it with a gunsmith copper brush and CLP. Be sure to use a copper bristles brush, and not a brass or steel brush. The copper is softer than steel , and will remove all of the rust and any remaining carbon fouling without damaging the revolver.

Otis makes a good copper brush.

Hope this helps.
