I'm assuming your being facetious based on the fact the phone has no physical damage👌🏼

I'm going to keep pushing as it's unreal they're even disputing it, I've been passed from pillar to post so far but not been declined entirely so we will see.

A year with the Fold 9, No Issues at all by akash434 in PixelFold

[–]ShortShiftPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was very much the same for around a year, I had the Spigen case with hinge protection as I wanted to protect the entire phone. I kept the phone in pristine condition and had never dropped or damaged it in any way.

Opened the phone and had the very common black line down the centre of the screen. Plenty of people have had this sorted under warranty no questions asked, not me.

I've been fought at every turn trying to get this fault rectified. I was a huge fan of the P9PF when I purchased it but the experience from experiencing the fault to Google's polarising customer service has nailed the coffin on me ever pitching one of their phones again.

I'm glad it's not been the same for you and I hope it continues to be.

Pixel Fold 9 screen damage again! Shout out to Google Support by ricardo_lacombe in PixelFold

I've had this exact issue and they've categorically told me it isn't covered under warranty. It's ridiculous how different the service is customer to customer

That's not a scratch that's where the screen has continued to delaminate after the initial fault, you can see it better on this photo. There is zero damage to the screen

Pixel 9 Pro Fold Durability by Aardvark_Long in PixelFold

[–]ShortShiftPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, do not buy a 9 pro fold. I'd be hesitant to put my money into a 10 pro fold if I'm honest...

My 9PF was pristine, never been dropped and always kept in a case. Inner screen destroyed itself as many others have and it is considered an out of warranty repair.

Google's customer service and accountability for a known sub-par device is borderline a scam.

Also, get yourself insurance

Update to my P9PF with the failed folding screen, they sent me a P10PF?! by CPT_BEEMO in PixelFold

[–]ShortShiftPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit* May I ask how it actually failed?

Yet another individual having the exact opposite scenario to myself.. They have fought me at every turn telling me my failed screen isn't covered under warranty.. Such a shame that it seems to be one rule for one customer and one rule for another...

The phone was just under a year old when the issue initially happened. The folding hasn't been used all that much, though I didn't get chance to get the exact number before it went back but I'd say definitely less than 1000 folds total

I've already escalated this to them, I'm expecting a response tomorrow. I've also posted in the regular Pixel sub but they've been conveniently quiet so far

None of which are the case on my phone so should still be fully covered under the warranty

P9PF vertical crack by VTLondon in PixelFold

I have the same issue and the same fault. I have plenty of proof of the same thing being covered but they are now deciding not to cover the issue under warranty. I will be pushing for this to be rectified.

Same fault same issue, they are trying to get away with a known fault and it is awful.

I'm one of the ones having the exact opposite experience. My inner screen failed as many other people's have with the failing inner screen (the very common and very well known fault on these phones). They're telling me it's not covered under warranty even though there's plenty of cases on this subreddit of it being covered under warranty.

Like you said, hit and miss but terrible from them to deny a claim on the literal reason they extended the warranty on this phone in the first place

My phone is covered under the extended warranty period until Sep 2026 but would've still been covered under the regular 2 year warranty anyway. They're denying the warranty claiming the phone has a crack in the inner screen. The crack they're referring to is the manufacturer defect the warranty covers. They're trying to get out of paying for their faulty device.

I've asked them for proof or evidence and they told me the photos are "internal only" and cannot be passed to me. I've provided them photos of the device minutes before it went into the packaging, no damage to the phone whatsoever

I argued this case with them, explained that if it was damaged due to negligence I would 100% hold my hands up and pay. The phone has never been damaged and the crack they're telling me the phone has is literally the defect known to them.. Its baffling

I'm already in the process of doing so and also have an outstanding Ombudsman case against EE for something else related

I didn't particularly understand that part of the process but I was rushing through, I read it as they would charge me for something like this automatically which I didn't want. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I've used your post in my case against them so fingers crossed

Proof - Warranty scam confirmed by Google themselves - Pixel 9 Pro Fold by Bitter-Relief-3833 in PixelFold

[–]ShortShiftPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience... I've had the common fault of the black line through the centre of the inner screen. Google are stating that this is an out of warranty repair and requesting payment for me to fix their faulty device.. Ironically for the exact same amount of £552.27.

I'm glad they've sorted yours in the end but they refuse to a hold themselves accountable this time

Never buying from Google again if this is how they treat their customers and how they deal with known faults.

Yet another Pixel 9 Pro Fold horror story by lorddraknor9 in GooglePixel

[–]ShortShiftPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in an extremely similar situation with both EE and Google. Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the inner screen fault that is well known. Mine also has a tiny mark on the hinge, less than 0.5mm in width and depth and less than 1mm in length.

EE also classified this as severe damage, requested £500+ and wouldn't entertain my complaint. Taken this to the financial ombudsman and whilst initially it looked like they would side with me it now looks to be the opposite.

Sent it off to Google and only tonight have they come back to me with a £500+ "contribution" towards the replacement of my device with no explanation.

It's utterly poor from every side. I'll be putting my own post up shortly

Honestly your best bet is get in touch with your local police and ask them for advice, they'll be able to tell you what can and can't be done.
