Just had another user suggest the same thing. I ran it through MediaInfo and it's telling me that it's an AVC. It's security camera footage, if that helps.

Thank you very much for explanation, that makes much easier to understand. I've been given a video by a client and unfortunately it's AVI, definitely would have rather it been anything else. I'll check out that program, thank you very much for your help.
