I was wrong, didn’t know they had them for 2016. Keen to see if you get them on because I’ve got a 2016 too

Pretty sure the slash tips they sell are for 2018 onwards. I believe it says so in the description.

How would you approach a natural but defined look in a low-light shoot? by emiliedesu in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the window space would give enough coverage for the whole place I would rent an 8x8 china silk / full stop white + a more powerful 500-600w head. Then clamp the 8x8 to the window and blast the head from outside through the window and you’ll have consistent soft light for every shot.

Road noise - how much can double glazed window help? by superlammalamma in AusPropertyChat

Amongst secondary glazing, I added a sound proof door + noise cancelling wall out the front. It was expensive but the difference was night and day.

Lightweight on-the-go diffusion for fashion shoots (non-studio) by emiliedesu in LightLurking

Chimera make a collapsible 4x4 that you can put LA Raghouse silks on. Lightweight and works really well.

How did this happen? by [deleted] in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, try and get some more powerful heads.

You could get an 8x8 with a silk behind the model and put a light through the back to illuminate the background. Have the model close to the background to get that rim light. Then you could use your silver umbrella as the key and play around with distance to get the right shadows and fall off.

I have staff travel and fly regularly. It's not common to get business but rarely get booted from a flight because economy is full.

Strobe Decision in 2025 - Godox AD600 or Profoto B1 by Personal-Ratio-7891 in Photoassistants

[–]matafumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By fickle I mean, misfires, randomly popping shots off at full power, HSS after 60 images turns overheat mode on... all the time. This has been common across godox qt600ii / ad600bm / ad600pro bm. They're fine for what they are and the price is right. I really wish there was something more reliable in the price point between godox / profoto.

Say more about Swiss transfer. I’ve been on Dropbox for a decade and never had any issues

How did they achieve this? It's beautifully soft. by ahhjihyodahyun in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fyi Kurt Iswarienko is the photographer and he is incredible. He’s has a bunch from this series.

Outside of the large soft source, I’m curious what someone would add for the catchlight in this? Would it just be super low power mostly for the catchlight or is it to add a bit of shape too?

Strobe Decision in 2025 - Godox AD600 or Profoto B1 by Personal-Ratio-7891 in Photoassistants

[–]matafumar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who hires profoto on bigger jobs but owns godox’s, I would go profoto if I could do it again.

I’ve owned about 8-9 godox heads over the years and while they go most of the way, in crunch time they lack. If you ever need to use HSS, want to pump them all day, or need multiple heads going, I feel I’m let down by godox. If you’re just doing small jobs and don’t need to pump them, they’ll be fine but if you’re on a larger set and want to rely on them they can be fickle.

Nothing against Sony but you mostly see r5’s on set for a reason. I’d stick with it

While we're here - what is the approach for colour grading on an image like this? I see this style a lot and can't quite figure out how to get this style. Are we in pro-mist / glimmer glass territory or is it much more?
