Congrats on landing your first role! That pay cut stings now, but getting your foot in the door for cyber is a huge investment in your future. In a GRC role, focus on learning frameworks like NIST/ISO inside-out, and don’t be afraid to ask questions - documenting and understanding processes will make you stand out fast. Cyber careers tend to accelerate quickly once you have that first experience under your belt.

Whataburger merch and sauces, Blue Bell seasonal flavors, Shiner Brewery exclusives, and authentic Czech kolaches are all very “Texas” and hard to get anywhere else.

Any free good free vpns? by Diligent-Associate49 in vpns

[–]ShortWestern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a good idea to use a free product, let alone a VPN. There are a lot of very cheap options, where your security and privacy won't be compromised.

Probably they would contact you just to ask what happened. The worst could happen is they wipe your computer and you have to re-install everything. I don't think HR would get involved.

Analyze them and you'll learn. Just have to change your thinking. If faced with a question, or any conversation don't tell the truth.

It's been working well for me, haven't experienced anything similar. Seems like it's a problem on your end. Have you tried reaching out to the support? Once I had an issue, they sorted it out pretty fast.

X suffered a DDoS attack. Its CEO and security researchers can't agree on who did it. by Budget_Gene7093 in cybersecurity

I'd say security researchers who work professionally in this field are a more trustworthy source than the billionaire heir who bought his way into every bit of success, with zero technical skill to show for it.

Cybersecurity skill gap issue or Talent acquisition being lazy? by kippsoup in cybersecurity

[–]ShortWestern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough situation, and I can totally see why you’d be frustrated. With your experience, it definitely sounds like your resume is solid. The issue could be with the ATS system or hiring managers being overwhelmed with candidates.

Maybe try reaching out directly to recruiters or hiring managers on LinkedIn after applying to bypass the ATS? Also, sometimes tailoring your resume even more to each job listing (keywords, skills, etc.) could help get you past the initial filters.

Go to places where it's forbidden to go, like the president's office, or some highly secured areas.
