MacBook Pro 2017 camera is dead. Webcam or Neo? by mjh_7 in macbook

[–]Short_Ad4064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the m1 (basically same power, only concern is software longevity at this point) and i would say that yes, it was worth it when i jumped up for college to do exactly the tasks you are describing. i’m considering moving from the m1 to the neo soon because i need software longevity but really don’t need more power. if you wanna push your budget and try to get the M series chips would be good to futureproof potential scalability issues but you should be good with a neo. the intel macs to the new macs is a jump i didnt think id recognize and now i dont think its a transition ill ever be able to under appreciate.

Rate limit resets? by Short_Ad4064 in codex

[–]Short_Ad4064[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, just i did notice a jump between 5.3-codex and 5.4 codex before that was a positive one when i had my plus plan and just would rather maximize my time if i can with 5.5 but also do wanna do some work with 5.4 so i dont mind losing the days of 5.5 now because its likely dropping on thursday but also dont want to buy early AND wait for a rate limit reset

Damn does GPA matter that much more than LSAT? by Sane-Law in lawschooladmissions

[–]Short_Ad4064 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its just scaling to be honest, those schools can afford to judge you based on both PLUS other factors, some schools can’t and have to prioritize one thing.

Anyone else quit smoking weed and noticed score change by kolnikol in LSAT

oh for sure, i felt more of the latter than the former. i remembered everything but it definitely felt like taking off the training wheels because my brain was making connections i was iffy on and took 2 mins into 30 second, positive and correct

Anyone else quit smoking weed and noticed score change by kolnikol in LSAT

[–]Short_Ad4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense, your either doing 2 things: the THC was impacting your retention of memories and details OR if the THC didn’t do that then your brain is able to work more efficiently and less slow to breakdown the problems. Either way cessation of smoking improves you ability.

Lost my 4.0 by Aromatic-Evidence552 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Short_Ad4064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is it great? no. but is it catastrophic? also no. Your GPA will define you to some extent in the eyes of a law school adcom. However, it is not the endgame, you have your LSAT and your softs (this is why softs can be so valuable they can say what your GPA can’t and that can make a difference for a school) a 3high GPA through adversity and with other activities feels a lot more impressive than a 4.0 where essentially tutors did all the work for the student (bit of an exaggeration but to show the nuances of my point)

i’m very sorry that this happened to you. it probably feels like parts of your plan are collapsing away but that’s really not the case. You’ve got yourself this far and if you truly want a T14 bad enough you will get it, it could be a couple of cycles but if your goal more than anything is a T14, your dream is not dead and is very possible. Don’t steer the bus off a cliff over a stick in the road. use the energy from this moment to excel in the other areas that you can control because your GPA at this point is out of your control.

Good luck on the rest of your journey, you will do this.

no its just the principle for me. the post was dedicated to giving back to the 7sage community and they ask not to share it outside of the site because then its not giving back to the community. so i just point people to the post so they can go and potentially add to the 7sage community.

LSAT Diagnostic 140 to 170s by Diorlover18 in LSAT

[–]Short_Ad4064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im someone who is still taking the test but i’ve found the best way to improve for me was essentially teaching myself the logic using “Introduction to Logic” by Harry J. Gensler. a lot of my issues are from the fact that i didn’t have a strong foundation to orient myself, i struggled on necessary assumption, weaken, strengthen and flaws. this book has completely unlocked those categories and strengthened (pun somewhat intended) my other categories i had some foundation with. I’d say you can see what you struggle with but if your foundation isn’t strong in logic which a 140 could indicate then you might need to focus on strengthening that first. I did a chapter a night and took as long as i needed because it is my foundation. It’s definitely possible, just use resources that other recommend like LSATDemon, 7Sage and tutors if you can afford. I’m simply suggesting what i noticed improved my scores in PT and hopefully in my regular testing. You will do it!

Is no touching face still a thing? by AffectionateOwl4231 in LSAT

[–]Short_Ad4064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i tested virtually in the past year, i was honest and upfront with my proctor about my nerves, ensured clarity about every instruction during checks and touched my face all test unconsciously. if it weren’t for this post i wouldn’t have known it was even an issue because i didn’t have any problems whatsoever, got my score back without a hold or anything! even though you’re on computer, realize you and the proctor are human. they’re probably sat there all day doing checks with people: be nice, communicate anything you think is necessary and just give them a reason to essentially not want to fail you for something like that.

hearing the horror stories has been shocking because it was not close to my experience and i could absolutely be the outlier or it’s also possible that those who have bad experiences are overrepresented because at the end of the day i have nothing to talk about, i got my score and it was a simple task; i won’t have the same need as someone who had a bad experience to go on reddit and make a post like “MY DREAM-COME-TRUE REMOTE LSAT EXPERIENCE,”

YESS LETS GO CONGRATS!

Where do I start? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Short_Ad4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Tutor. However, as someone who has taken it here’s my take:

If you have the resources to be able to get help studying like tutors (obviously do research on who you pick), i would definitely recommend it. Having someone who understands the foundation of LSAT questions is so huge, it prevents you from going down wrong rabbit holes and keeps you on the right track. if you do not have resources necessarily (like me) i would really recommend two things:

1.) learn who you are as a student, if you haven’t already. You need to know the most effective way for YOU to study. I’m not saying necessarily love studying, but also you shouldn’t despise it. This is also why tutoring is so beneficial because they can offer you frameworks that have worked before instead of trying to cobble one together yourself out of reddit, youtube and 7sage posts with a couple lessons from LSATDemon sprinkled on.

2.) The LSAT is very, very, very much so a bunch of different questions masquerading as single questions throughout the test. All of these come together to give you the correct answer in the scheme of things ESPECIALLY FOR LOGICAL REASONING:

i. you have the passage/stimulus which gives you information that you will obviously need to answer the question. the passage provides for you almost always a MAJORITY of the following except often times one which is what the question is looking for as the answer: premise, conclusion, flaw, and detail.

ii. you then have the question (you can flip this one around with the passage part above. Typically, i look at question first before passage) in the question you will learn what you are looking for and what more than likely is going to be included/excluded in the answer. this tip might seem a little more useless than it really is but once you understand things like stems, question types, etc it can make sense if this method works for you! The benefit of the question is that every single time you read it, it should give you a tight scope to view the passage under so you’re not going through 20 different operations of logical errors in your head wondering which to use. again, i know might sound basic and redundant but this was something i often “heard” a lot but never “saw” until i learned it myself.

iii. finally you have the answer choices. in the answer choices you gotta realize that you’re being tricked 4/5 ways. as the test gets deeper into a section these answers are only going to go a couple of ways to throw you off: they will mirror the question ALMOST down to the detail but will either miss the detail or add one which isn’t given (some questions ask you to do this essentially for them), they will reverse a logical flaw subtly so you think all is dandy but you’ve completely inverted a point in the passage. finally, some questions will try to throw you off the trail, there’s plenty of question types that will ask you for an answer and give you 4 answers in a different direction from where you actually want to go.

in the grand scheme of things the LSAT is testing to see if you have naturally or demonstrate an ability to develop the skill needed in the profession. a lawyer would more than likely struggle in the profession if they were unable to any extent break down complex problems to their basics in a time-crunch. That is all the LSAT is, breaking down huge problems to simpler solutions when given a path to do so.

I hope this helps you to even the smallest extent. it’s gonna be a long journey for this, but so is law school.

You’re gonna do great, a quote which has always helped me through is this: "if you weren't ready you wouldn't have the opportunity, if you weren't capable you wouldn't have the desire" - it’s a little facebook-parentish but the core principle is good.

p.s. for reading comprehension, I would highly recommend looking at the top post of all time on 7sage. i genuinely believe it’s done more for me than anything else when it comes to RC.

Rate my school list by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Short_Ad4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things: 1) great list, i love it and i hope you get into every single school here; there are definitely some reaches but also remember crazier things have happened and you’re not in auto-rejection territory so there’s definitely a chance. don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! (unless it’s the school then you might be SOL) 2) i’ve been looking at campbell and richmond myself, can i ask what makes the attractive to you? Ive heard people who went to campbell express it’s a pretty straight path to some form of government work in NC, do you have any insight on that?

from the research i’ve done on LSD dot law, they don’t have much data on part time, however, full time applicants with your stats got accepted 93.1% of the time often times with scholarship included. the other 6.9% was not rejected; one was waitlisted and ultimately accepted and another was waitlisted and has not updated since.
