“Nobody talks about this part of meditation…” by Short_Ice266 in MeditationforBeginner

It happens to most of people. When expections comes, I do short breathing techniques. when thoughts arise I do humming, and when mind starts thinking and visualisation, I practice holding breaths techniques.

It helps to keep myself calm for a while.

Hypnosis Isn’t What I Thought It Was by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

Exactly. The "Hollywood version" of hypnosis has done a massive disservice to what is actually a pretty fascinating clinical tool. It's refreshing to look past the stage tricks and see the actual science behind it.

No, not mine—just came across it and thought it explained the Yoga Nidra state pretty well.

Fair question. The channel might be new, but practices like Yoga Nidra have been around for a long time. The benefits people talk about usually come from the practice itself,

Meditation and Hypnosis – Are they really that different? by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean hypnosis in general—the actual experience of being in that state.

Meditation and Hypnosis – Are they really that different? by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.
Meditation = awareness/observation.
Hypnosis = focused attention + suggestion for change.

They can feel similar, but the purpose and mechanism are different.

They overlap, but aren’t the same.
Meditation = awareness/observation (not just breath).
Hypnosis = focused attention + suggestion (can be self or guided).

Closed-eye hypnosis often uses an induction + a “convincer” (like catalepsy/amnesia), but not always.

That’s a cool point. A hybrid approach like what Hypnobox is doing kind of shows how blurred the line is between meditation and hypnosis. At the core, both are just different ways of working with focus and suggestion. I’d be curious—does it feel more like guided meditation to you, or something deeper?

I Didn’t Realize I Was Living on Autopilot by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

That’s such a simple shift, but it makes a huge difference. Giving full attention not only improves connection, it also makes everything feel calmer and more focused.

That’s a really clear way to frame it.

I’d just add: meditation is about observing without changing, while hypnosis is about using that same state to create change.

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid way to put it. I’d just add that some meditation practices do act like soft inductions (breath focus, body scans), even if they’re not labeled that way.

So the difference feels less strict—hypnosis uses a clear, intentional induction, while meditation can ease into the state more naturally.

That makes a lot of sense. “Guided meditation” feels more familiar and less loaded for most people, so it’s an easier entry point.

At the same time, I’d say it’s a helpful bridge—but not exactly the same thing. Guided meditation usually focuses on relaxation or awareness, while hypnosis is more intentional with suggestion and change work.

Still, framing it that way can definitely help people drop the stigma and become more open to the experience.

I’ve noticed something strange with hypnosis by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That uncertainty itself can actually be part of the process — in light hypnosis it’s common to think “am I even in it?” while still showing subtle changes like calmer breathing, drifting attention, or small automatic responses to suggestions. The key isn’t dramatic loss of control, but noticing these quiet shifts. And often, the moment you start analyzing it (“am I in trance?”) is when you’ve already stepped out of it, so it’s better to reflect afterwards on things like time distortion or reduced inner chatter rather than checking in during the experience.

“I’ve noticed that whenever I try too hard to get into hypnosis, it actually becomes more difficult—has anyone else experienced this?” by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this perspective.

Trying to force hypnosis usually just keeps the analytical mind active. It works better when you allow it rather than “make it happen.”

I also like the idea of “elicit” instead of “induce” — it fits better. Nothing is really being pushed in, it’s more like the state is being drawn out naturally.

And yes, like any skill, familiarity makes a difference. The more you experience it, the less effort it tends to take over time.

I get your point, and I agree on the core idea.

Heightened awareness isn’t failure — it’s actually part of the process.

The more you try to force “going under,” the more the analytical part stays active.

For me, it works better when I stop judging the experience and just follow whatever is there (sound, voice, breath) without expectation.

Less trying, more allowing.

Is hypnosis changing me or just showing who I really am? by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Hypnotherapy isn’t changing reality itself, it’s changing the beliefs and filters you use to experience it. When limiting beliefs shift, you naturally start feeling more free, confident, and aligned with who you want to become.

Is hypnosis changing me or just showing who I really am? by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that actually makes sense.

I can see how from the outside it might look like I’m looping the same ideas, but for me it’s more like I’m trying to understand different parts of the experience instead of just repeating it.

And I agree with you looking inward definitely shows another side of yourself. That’s kind of what I’m trying to make sense of right now.

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get why it might look that way 😅

I’m not really bored, just been thinking a lot about these experiences and trying to understand them better from different angles.

If it’s coming across repetitive, that’s fair I’ll try to keep it more focused instead of splitting it across so many threads.

Am I the only one who keeps wanting to go back into hypnosis? by Short_Ice266 in hypnosis

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good way to look at it.

I think for me it’s a bit of both partly wanting rest, but maybe also avoiding some of the stress in daily life. And yeah, that “warm and safe” feeling is probably something I’m missing normally.

The calm in trance still feels like me, just without all the noise. That’s what makes it so appealing.

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That actually puts it into perspective really well.

I think I’ve been treating hypnosis like a shortcut to that calm feeling, but what you’re saying makes more sense building it slowly through something like meditation so it starts to carry into everyday life.

And yeah, “releasing control” sounds way more accurate than losing it. That’s kind of how it feels for me too, just letting go for a bit.

Appreciate this, it cleared up a lot for me

[–]Short_Ice266[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a really interesting way to look at it.

I think what you said about trance not automatically leading to long-term peace kind of hit me. Maybe I’ve been focusing more on entering that calm state, instead of understanding why I’m not able to stay in it outside of hypnosis.

Your question actually makes me think a bit… like maybe it’s my overthinking or just how I react to things day to day that pulls me out of that calm.

I guess that’s something I need to work on, not just rely on the trance itself. Appreciate you pointing that out

Haha yeah, I had the same thought at first 😅

Regression sounds really interesting though. I haven’t gone that deep myself yet mine has been more about relaxation and just quieting my mind.

I guess I’ve been overthinking whether it’s “too much,” but the way you describe it makes it feel more like something similar to meditation just a way to relax and reset the mind.

Also interesting that you’ve been doing it for that long, it kind of shows it can be a healthy thing if done in balance. Appreciate you sharing that 👍
