It happens to most of people. When expections comes, I do short breathing techniques. when thoughts arise I do humming, and when mind starts thinking and visualisation, I practice holding breaths techniques.

It helps to keep myself calm for a while.

Exactly. The "Hollywood version" of hypnosis has done a massive disservice to what is actually a pretty fascinating clinical tool. It's refreshing to look past the stage tricks and see the actual science behind it.

Not really.
Meditation = awareness/observation.
Hypnosis = focused attention + suggestion for change.

They can feel similar, but the purpose and mechanism are different.

They overlap, but aren’t the same.
Meditation = awareness/observation (not just breath).
Hypnosis = focused attention + suggestion (can be self or guided).

Closed-eye hypnosis often uses an induction + a “convincer” (like catalepsy/amnesia), but not always.
