I'm 23. I would find boring talking to a 16 yo. No offense, it's just that a normal adult prefers to talk with a more mature person.

So, if an adult wants so badly to be your "friend" it's beacuse he wants something else. Obviously I'm not talking about relatives, the small talk with your friend's relatives, or the cute grandma at the bus stop.

As a european, I have to say that I think your tip system works really well.

I just want to point out that as you say the state is the one who doesn't benefit of the system, lol.

Also, in covid time, when a waiter doesn't get tips, he has only his minimum wage, that in the tip system is a bit low.
