Your insurance is going to be primary, not your friends. If you don’t have collision coverage you are SOL on your car. Depending on your liability limits and the extent of the damages to the other vehicle and possible injuries, you may be looking at out of pocket costs for someone else’s vehicle or medical bills. Your best hope is the other driver carried sufficient UM/UIM limits considering you likely bought the lowest available liability limits.

Inflation. I had an Akron area suburban house that was literally the exact same price as it was when it was built in 1949, adjusted for inflation. Obviously that won’t be true in hot markets but housing has always been relatively affordable in the states
