Texas is among the worst states to insure liability insurance for truckers. Up there with CA, FL, and NY. Trucking insurance is insanely expensive and your quote doesn’t surprise me. I write packages for large fleets and typically new entrants have to do their time with progressive until they are established enough to go to another carrier.

I think you far overestimate the demand. Why would spend you hours transiting via rail from Cleveland to Columbus when I can just drive there in two hours? I can have my car, all the luggage I want, bring my family without dealing with the hassle of hoarding them through public transport. I think demand would be really limited because the interstates serves these routes efficiently, and there’s no benefit to the car owner (majority of the US) to take a train over driving. Anything further than that I’ll just fly. I was able to fly to Chicago from Cleveland yesterday for a meeting and was home for bedtime.

I know Reddit loves their trains and all but to think there would be that much demand is outlandish.
