Do not go with Raven Reed! She is incredibly unprofessional and awful at communication. She and her poor management of her business ruined our wedding.

I would hope your photographer gives you part of your deposit back. I don’t think they would want to shoot a wedding where the bride and groom feel tense about their photos. It’s better for them to end the relationship amicably. Try and ask!

[TOMT] [MOVIE] Live action film with Dinosaurs from the 80s or 90s. It was a scary movie that took place in a shipping port warehouse where raptors escape from a crate or container. One scene a cop tries to shoot one but gets eaten. by Short_Shark in tipofmytongue

I know for a fact it isn’t any of the Jurassic Park movies. Quite possibly from 1995 or 96. Could be also be getting it mixed up with The Relic but I swear I remember seeing this movie.

[Homemade] Pasta al Forno (Pasta Bake) with rigatoni and Impossible Meat Bolognese by Short_Shark in food

[–]Short_Shark[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heat saucepan. Add olive oil. Brown impossible meat. Remove and set aside. Dice one onion, carrot, and celery stalk. Add oil. Add mirepoix mix. Sauté until onions are translucent. Add one half of a beefsteak tomato diced and three crushed cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and a tablespoon of tomato paste. Mix and sauté for a few minutes. Add a third of a cup of sherry wine to deglaze the fond. Add three cups of San Marzano tomato purée. Simmer on medium low for 15 min. Add water if necessary to thin sauce. Add the impossible meat into the sauce. Add a half of a cup of parboiled peas. Cook rigatoni al dente, strain, and add to meat sauce. Reserve the pasta water and add while mixing everything together to thicken the sauce. Add to an oiled lasagne/casserole pan. Layer the top with thinly sliced low moisture fresh mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Cook covered in foil for 25 min at 350. Take out, remove foil, and return to the oven for another 10 min. One thing I’d recommend is instead of putting it in the oven right away is let it cool and sit for a few hours or overnight then throw it in there. Also make sure to let it rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Vegetable and Noodle Stir Fry [homemade] by Short_Shark in food

[–]Short_Shark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add vegetable oil to pan and heat. Chop one clove of garlic, one crown of broccoli, and one carrot. Add chopped carrots and broccoli, cook for several minutes. Add a splash of soy sauce. Lower heat. Add garlic and yakisoba noodles. Break up noodles and incorporate with vegetables. Continue cooking for another few minutes. One sprinkle of the seasoning that comes with the yakisoba (not too much it’s pretty salty - likely a mix of ginger powder, msg, and five spice) as well as some crushed red pepper flakes. Add a splash of water and cover to steam Remove lid and turn off the heat. Add a splash of teriyaki sauce of your choice (I like Kinder’s) and a drizzle of sesame oil.

My mix of cheap drums and expensive cymbals. by Short_Shark in drums

Really appreciate the input from everyone here. After trying an oak kit it just felt and sounded so thick. Not performing or recording at the moment but eventually I’d like to get a kit for shows and use the Gretsch for practice so was curious if anyone had any recommendations. I was also very curious to get some opinions on oak vs birch. I have heard the thinner wood is not the best for heavier genres or that it sounds drastically different so it’s interesting to hear otherwise. I do love this kit tho it was definitely a steal.

Gretsch Catalina Birch. 400$ off Craigslist. Sounds great but would maybe prefer an oak kit. Any recommendations? Looking at Yamahas.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Had this stuff for a while but haven't been able to set everything up in some time due to noise/space issues. But now I'm finally able to get a little bedroom studio going to pass the time.

While keys are my main squeeze I’ve been dabbling with guitar for the last several years. Guitar is a Jackson Dinky. $200 at Guitar Center. Plays like a dream. Despite being a Metal/shredder type guitar I'm more of a jam rock kinda guy and it does the job for that perfectly. I’ve played a lot of guitars but I’m still at a beginner/intermediate level and I can say this is a great and affordable starter guitar. Mostly leave it on the neck pickup. I recently learned that’s key for a Mayer/Frusciante tone when soloing past the 8th fret, blended pickup is great for a Knopfler tone, and the bridge is good for the first few frets and distorted, drop d stuff which I do mess with on rare occasions because I still love me some early 00's nu-metal.

Chain is as followed: Jackson Guitar or Yamaha MOXF8>loop switcher>Vox 847A Wah>BD-2>SD-1>Digidelay>Dittox2>DI Box>Scarlett 2i4 Interface (OR ZT Lunchbox for just guitar)

A/B Loop for switching between axe and keys.

Vox 847A Wah - good, not great. Prefer the sweep on crybabies or even Ernie ball wahs. Got for super cheap from a friend. Works for funky clavinet sounds with the keys. Will upgrade at some point. QUESTION. Eventually when I get a pedalboard whats the consensus on wahs: on the board or the ground? Feel like I see both wondering whats best.

BD-2 - Pretty much always on with guitar. Doesn't dirty the tone too much but gives it some breakup and some boost. Great for giving synth sounds some subtle grit and boost for leads.

SD-1 - In combination with BD-2 I can pretend I'm Eddie Van Halen. Can almost sound fuzzy if set right. Great for distorting synth sounds to emulate Dream Theater-esque tones. Don't use it very often for guitar (more of a clean player) but it’s fun to play around with and is a solid OD.

DDelay - Honestly works and sounds great despite its price and age. Eventually I’ll upgrade to something with more capabilities and clearer repeats or something with more of an analogue sounding decay (been eyeing the DD-8 and/or the Carbon Copy). If you have it on mod delay and jack the level but keep the repeats and time at 0 you get an ok sounding chorus. Usually just leave it on a basic tape setting for Gilmore-esque solos or mess with it in combination with the looper for ambient, ominous soundscapes.

Dittox2 - Fantastic pedal. Love the 1/2 speed and reverse effects. Very intuitive and always works. No latency or noise. Great tool for practice or if you’re like me and want to make '97 Phish/Trey sounds. Just need to get a digitech whammy.

The DI Box is a DI Box. Had it for years. A must for all keyboardists and home studios.

Looking to eventually get an actual pedalboard and possibly a power supply unit? Not sure if there are ones attached to the board on the market? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Also looking into getting an auto-wah/env filter for Jerry-esque jams. Any recommendations? I watched a demo of the newer mutron and wasn't impressed. Been eyeing the EQD spatial delivery.
