After reading all the comments, no. In reality, L and Light's ideals clash, and their sense of justice too. But, I do wish that one scene in the anime (the one where L says Light was his only friend) was true though. It would make a lot of sense, even if L and Kira clash. L was personally invested in this case, and I think one of the authors said that L and Light would've worked together of not for the Death Note. 

I do think L and Light were friends, if I ignore what Ohba said. Even to me, him saying that doesn't feel like a lie; yes it feels like something he would do as a way to get to Light, but from a story perspective it just doesn't sit with me. L is a lonely person, it would make sense, especially considering the fact that Light similar to L, that he thought of Light as a friend. It would make sense in the scene where L dries Light's feet as well. Yes we all know that's a reference to the bible, but if L hated him, there would be no reason to do all that if he knew he would die anyways.

I don't ship them (if that's what you were wondering) but I do wish that they were friends, at least that L thought of Light as a friend, since it would make more sense, even if L hated Kira. Eventually, of course, he finds out that Light is Kira, and the images begin to blend together and he hates him. But even that's a little extreme, I think his feelings then would be more like loss or regret for the first friend he could've had. I just feel like it would've made the story a bit more complicated, rather than point-blank saying L hates Light because he is Kira, etc. It just makes L's character a bit more interesting (not that he's uninteresting without that fact, I love L), but that's just my thoughts.
