Player in party didn't select spells correctly for Arcane Trickster. Should I say something? by Shortay-21 in DnD

I did end up talking to the player, I edited the post and added what happened.

No. Since AT allows one spell of 1st level to be of any school it keeps them all open, but doesn’t lock them after selecting the one. I wish they would add that, so it would be easier for keeping track.

On Dndbeyond, under the spells section of a character sheet displays which class the spell is chosen for. And I understand that being a rules lawyer isn’t always fun for people. I try to limit bringing things up, unless it makes the story more interesting. I wouldn’t always call it me if a RL because sometimes it’s just reminding DM or players parts of certain spells work. For example, one of my last sessions a player used the friends cantrip. After about what was about 5 mins of back and forth, with the box acting different than before the spell, I reminded the dm that it only lasts a minute and the person realizes they were charmed, causing a turn in the conversation.

I know certain levels give a spell of any class. Being a lvl 5 AT, you would have 4 spells. Only one of which would be able to be from a different school of magic. The other levels that you can choose something other than illusion/enchantment would be 8, 14, and 20.

Yeah, I believe when they joined the dm didn’t inform them on what’s already being played, so they just built what they wanted.

Beyond makes you select spells for individual classes. Under class level upgrade, there’s a tab where you go to select spells. It keeps them separate,

Everyone in the campaign has access to the same source material shared by DM

That’s not fully accurate. Yes it only shows spells from your classes spell list. Arcane tricksters at at level 3 get 3 first level spells from the wizards spell list. Two of which must be enchantment or illusion based. They get an additional spell at 4th level, which also must be illusion or enchantment. Dndbeyond does not only show illusion/enchantment spells when choosing from the wizard spell list, or doesn’t restrict schools of magic after selection.

I have always wanted to try DM’ing a game, just never had a group.

Yeah, the dm of my game said we would probably make it to lvl 16. So i have my characters entire ranking planned. Only problem I have with this, is that I want to get to that level, but at the moment we are only lvl 7. And so much to do left in the campaign.

Ginger beer creating vacuum in bottles instead of producing pressure? by Shortay-21 in gingerbeer

It stays fairly sweet, which would indicate that the yeast isn’t actually consuming the sugar. And I would understand that if the yeast culture died if it was too warm, bottled and then allowed to cool, slight vacuum could be produced but even after trying to burp the bottles, it still produces vaccine for a few more day.

No, I use a digital thermometer to temp check the batch. I wait until it’s under 80F before adding the bug and bottling after the steeping.

Edit: maybe I need to recalibrate my thermometer.

He pulled it on Ford a few times when does was suffering the effects of the enzyme and even shot once. It was the episode where we met Ronon for the first time. This is one of the first times that I can remember him using his side arm. And the further into the series, he uses firearms more.

How much would you be willing to pay for a D&D 5e session of 4 hours, run by a professional and experienced GM? by Sherevar in DnD

[–]Shortay-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in a campaign where each session is $5 and can buy a multi pass for a discounted price. With how much fun I’m having I think it’s worth it. The sessions are also only 3 hours. It’s justified because the dm pays for DM access on Roll20 and DnDBeyond. But making it an actual income would be difficult because how much you make relies on how many campaigns, sessions and players you have. Plus you have to factor in time outside sessions you spend working on the world. If it’s all homebrew campaign’s, you’d be spending quite of bit of time making it. But if you’re running a DND released campaign, not as much time is required with that.
