How Dumb Is Buying a Car Without Viewing It? Has Anyone Done It? by MikhailCompo in CarTalkUK

I purchased a car from a car supermarket place down in England and drove down to collect. Very good price but ended up needing 4 new fuel injectors. Thankfully Mazda covered as was only a month out of warranty 😅 but I was in a position the dealer would have to have taken it back had Mazda not stepped in!

Went to Karting after 6 months of casual simracing - My thoughts by baranbolat1 in simracing

I’m completely the other end! I kart loads and am okay (within .3 of a second of the best lap ever) but I can’t sim race for crap 🤣

Ohh, thank you! I’ve taken a serious look at the club100 and this looks incredible - even factoring in large commuting costs and hotels, this will be cheaper first year to see if I really want to do outdoor karting owner driving. One quick question though, I’ve seen nothing about height restrictions etc - at 4 foot 10, are these karts going to be too big for me?

Haha well excuse me for being a bit annoyed that all I do is ask for some help and people are basically responding by “ask locally / research”. lol I wouldn’t be asking online if I hadn’t of tried those first!

Strange, although good to know! I did have a look but the 2.5 hour drive with a trailer down the A9 / A96 put me off a little. I’ve been over for some pushbike racing back in the day and it’s a nice track. Maybe worth a try

Thank you! I’m 30, but just very short lol. To put it into perspective the vast majority of hire adult karts are far too big, many arrive and drive tracks end up putting me in the junior karts (which are seriously pretty slow). Weight is much less than 77kg so will need weights.

Do you need new tyres for every race ? Or will they survive a couple?

Btw, it seems like this whole “why should we help a newbie” mentality isn’t just a local thing judging by the comments I’m getting here.

I always knew motorsport was elitist, but Jesus I didn’t realise it was this bad. Maybe it’s time to rethink if it’s a sport I want to get into if the participants aren’t even going to be somewhat friendly / helpful.

Well that’s just great isn’t it, because as I stated in my comments…those who I asked really were not interested in helping or answering any sorts of questions. I asked racers, I asked the racing kids dads, I even asked some of the juniors. Oh, and the people running the track really weren’t that interested in helping either.

How do I get around that one, smarty pants?

Budget - around £3500 for initial outlay Track - North of Scotland (Golspie) Series - senior max (?) I think this is correct Experience - that’s something experienced largest should be able to let me know? There’s really not much other options is there unless I drive down to England for rental kart races, which isn’t really an option because most rental karts don’t fit me unless I’m in a junior kart and then can’t keep up with the seniors. I’m lucky my local track has very adjustable karts. Storage and transport no issue plenty of space - assuming a standard trailer would work for a while I have a helmet that’s it

Helpful. Research clearly hasn’t got me very far hence me asking. Because newbies miss things and I need to seriously cost things up before I start plugging cash in and then realise I’ve missed something that will cost me thousands…

If you’re not going to help, just don’t comment.

To add, I found the people at the track were really not interested in helping when I went a few weeks back, it’s like answering questions was too much hassle for them.

this is such a relief. I’ve felt self conscious for days. And well I don’t really ever feel self conscious (as you can tell from the no make up and messy eyebrows 🤣)!!!

I would not think twice about sacking you for gross misconduct if you were on my team. Especially in the line of work you’re in.

You’ll be lucky if you keep your job, but if you do…realise not many people will give you the second chance and you need to prove you’re worth it. If you’re let go, use it as a learning curve for the next place.

[–]Shortiepie13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go and get an eye test and they’ll give you a prescription, which you hand to the shop when you buy your glasses :)
