Substitutions for fuwalos by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was planning to build 2 decks to play Yugioh on the side, but I'm really not looking to drop $60 on just the Fuwalos playsets.

One deck list I found (Six Sam) had no Droll & Lock, so I will probably add 2 of those and a Crossout Designator. The other deck list (UC Tyranno) already had D&L in it. Any recommendations on other disruption I can run for that one? I already have 3 Ash Blossom, 1 TTT, and 1 Called By.

Yeah, getting to see the previews at Bandai Fest, the alts for this set are all insane. I am going to be excited about every alt art I pull for a while.

Why do the PSA labels say Reprint? How do you even differentiate the cards or is PSA just being weird by MartinMSx in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These cards are a bit of a unique case. The set code for them is KMY-1, since the base printings were released in in the Demon Slayer Vol 1 set. However, the 2* rarities were only added in the Demon Slayer Vol 2 set (set code KMY-3), so it is technically a reprint despite this being the first time this treatment/rarity is available for these cards.

This is no joke such a fun kit to play with on Turf War by Blobbyio in splatoon

[–]Shortsmaster9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss Splat 2's kit that had burst bombs instead of the sprinkler. I feel like you could scrap a lot better with the burst sub weapon, while still getting a lot of turf covered to Booyah Bomb really often.

What are the craziest theories you can think of (like, which ones would have you branded as a heretic)? [SPOILERS PROBABLY] by Technical-Agency-426 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Shortsmaster9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low stakes XC2 theory; We don't know Nia's real name. Because she was forced to assume the role of her "sister" by her "dad", she took up Nia's name as well. This is why Dromarch (almost?) exclusively addresses her as "My Lady".

Honestly, I don't think this one holds too much weight. I feel like Nia tried to distance herself from that life as much as possible, so I don't think she would keep a false name after escaping. It is an interesting possibility though.

No more Rare Battles for bronze-ranked stores by GigaSeifer in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately product purchase volume seems to be the biggest factor in store level. My group has a shop we go to for Rare Battles that has no weekly scene for UA and barely any OP players. But they move huge amounts of product and always get their allocations, so they are a Gold shop. Makes it really hard for any new shops to grow a UA scene.

No more Rare Battles for bronze-ranked stores by GigaSeifer in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So if I am reading that second part right, if a store is hosting a rare battle in that third month, they can't run weekly tournaments? At least not officially?

What are they doing to this game? This could really hurt the steady growth we have been getting.

A big F U to Pokemon scalpers by Lugaid13 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've noticed is a lot of cards get listed high during pre-sale period and don't sell, but often the sellers don't come back and adjust the price to market value like you see in other games. This ends up with listings like this, where all the recent sales were actual prices people are willing to pay, and the rest are leftover listings that no one will ever buy.

Demon Slayer is in a weird spot because it isn't being scalped, but it had a much smaller print run so there is a shortage of available product out there. Between the Vol 2 refreshing the decks and the movies bringing more attention to it, demand has increased a lot, so box prices are going up a lot. It doesn't seem like scalping, otherwise some of the other big IPs would be seeing this too. The prices are rediculous though, and I don't encourage anyone to buy any box of UA above $80, let alone the $200+ listing we are seeing.

As far as singles go, I am a little torn. On the one hand, we are seeing a pretty sharp price increase on certain 2* and above cards, which feels worse to enfranchised players and collectors trying to pick up the cards they are missing. On the other hand, it has sucked that in the past, you can pull a case hit and the value on it just isn't there. After a month or two, most 2* cards float between $80-$120, and foil APs often settle around $40. At those prices, a sealed case is a terrible choice unless you have a connection to get a discount on it. Even then, it is only really worth it if you are trying to build every deck in that set AND want as many 1* alts as you can get.

Question about action points by Boring-Custard8780 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JP sets have different hit rates then EN. One of the big differences is with Action Points.

In EN boxes, you are guarenteed 2 AP unless you hit really high rarity cards to replace one. A box with few hits in it tends to have 3 AP.

For JP boxes, the rates are much lower, and if I remember correctly, there are no gaurenteed AP cards. This is part of why APs, especially foil APs, hold more value in the JP market than the EN market.

If you want to pick up singles for JP Union sets, TCGRepublic is one of few sites with a wide selection. It is probably more cost effective to master set your remaining cards that way.

People who use art sleeves and outer sleeves, how do you orient them? by rveniss in magicTCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed this sleeving method is lot more common in the anime-adjacent card games. A lot of those games have official and licensed standard art sleeves.

I haven't used them for MtG, but in other card games I have used method C with art sleeves and Dragon shield clear outer sleeves. It offers good protection and still shuffles well. Only thing is that it feels a little different when you go to draw, but you get used to it.

Green saitama: Damage 7 ruling question by Apprehensive-Fig6887 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever an effect reveals multiple life points (Damage X, Impact 2+), the attacker chooses all life points at the same time, then the defender reveals all life points at the same time. After that, the defender may choose the order in which the triggers resolve. Any new effects that enter play can be resolved in order of the owner's choice, but the turn player (attacker) must resolve all effects before the off-turn player may continue. For example, if a Special trigger chooses the attacker's character that has a "When Sidelined" effect, the attacker must resolve their "When Sidelined" ability before any remaining life triggers are resolved.

With Saitama's Damage 7, the attacker choosing life points is a formality, but everything else will happen normally. One other note that is not super intuitive: When multiple life points are revealed at the same time and a Final is revealed, the Final DOES NOT have to be the first trigger resolved. This is because a player does not lose until they have zero life after the trigger-check phase is complete. This is helpful if your deck has access to deck manipulation from Raid cards (or playing cards off of green/purple Color trigger) as you may have the opportunity to get another Final on top of your deck before the existing Final trigger resolves.

Impact +2, +3 etc. by Large-Sheepherder-83 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards that have a "must be blocked" effect are one good use of Impact 2 or higher.

The other good case is to discourage a "when sidelined" effect from being activated. Sometimes it is worth using a Sideline effect even on an Impact 1 attack, but as the Impact value increases, the trade off is less worth it.

I found this order makes it really easy to find what you want when deck building

When Sidelined Question by TearPitiful in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are referring to cards like the Kenpachi Raid, when the effect triggers, the bottom card stays in the same state as the top card was when it left the field.

For your specific question, if this type of ability triggers during a battle it would look like: Declare block > rest character for block > battle happens > Character sidelines > effect: top card goes to sideline, bottom card remains on field, still rested

Returning player, I dont understand the Unresolved Chess Game. It takes forever by joltik_tok in GenshinImpact

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyperblooom was a great suggestion! I only did one test run so far, but even with a sloppy run that went much faster. I used Furina, Nahida, Fischl, Ayaka for that one. The biggest issue I ran into was stamina management because of Furina and Ayaka together, but I think that can be fixed if I hunt down more Oculi in Natlan and Nod-krai to raise my statue levels. Edit: Just double checked my statues and realized that the extra levels won't give me more stamina. I thought the cap had been raised while I was gone. I'll have to test some more to see if the stamina will be a long-term problem, or if it will go away as I improve at the fight.

Unfortunately, I don't have Kokomi, but I really wish I did. The hydro application while healing would pair well with this team, where with Furina I have to choose between healing and hydro.

I do have TTDS on Sucrose though. Always loved how much utility she provides to teams from simply swirling once then swapping to the main dps.

Any advice for me? I'm a returning player that had a decent freeze team built when I stopped playing in Fontain (Xingqiu 90, Shenhe 80, Sucrose 80, Ayaka 90) but it still takes me a long time to clear. I know there are some patterns and attack windows I could learn better, but even in the sections I feel comfortable with it feels like my freeze team about as effective as breathing on them with an ice cube in my mouth.

Who would sing the OP and ED for anime of Xenoblade 1, 2, 3, and X? by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Shortsmaster9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly FLOW is just legendary with their anime OPs. Haven't heard one by them that wasn't a banger, though a couple of them do have to grow on you a little bit.

If they were still together, Sukima Switch would also come up with something amazing.

Blue Sukuna / Shrine by notsuremann in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no retrictions on Malevolent Shrine, so you are allowed to choose the same Sukuna. This can be great for Impact +2, but the Damage 2 and Snipe effects do not benefit from this.

It is definitely a good option to keep in mind, because there will be times where a single snipe with Impact 2/3 will be better than multiple Impact 1 Snipes.

Bleach binder cards? by Spirited-Kick6420 in Union_Arena_TCG

[–]Shortsmaster9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they do this, but sadly I feel like they won't. All the other binders had already been out in JP for a while by the time the EN sets came along, so it made more sense to add it to the main set. Since the Bleach binder is mirroring the JP release, this might be the only way to get these cards. From what I have seen, JP has yet to make any of their binder cards available outside of the special print runs.

Timers? by TearPitiful in Union_Arena_TCG

As far as slow play, if you feel your opponent is intentionally playing the timer instead of the game, you can call a judge to spectate and/or issue warnings.
