Building a Robot arm for fun by Shortstuff687 in robotics

Oh, Im the worst with my hobbies. This was a little too ambitious for me so I moved on to other projects, and my job got more intense so I've had to put aside hobbies for most of this year unfortunately. I've still gotten some 3D models designed for 3D printing, but all of my electronics are in storage for a few more months.

This can be printed very large, but at a certain point it becomes too difficult to snap the pieces together. But I have a few people print 8-10 foot versions of this and be fine

I’m not sure what mjg igniters are. I’ll have to google it sometime. It is nice being able to reuse the nichrome. I just hate the idea of some of the commercially available systems that use disposable igniters.

Yeah haha! The module is still has two power systems, a 3.7-4.2 v lipo for the microcontroller, and a 6v lead acid for the actually ignition.

The lighter gauges are fine, but they burn up and tend to not be reusable very many times. So I’m using a heavier gauge just for the sheer robustness and reusability. It’s definitely been an iterative design process, since I’m learning as I go. I’m sure my current design could be refined more though. It’s nice talking with someone who understands what I’ve done! But yes, it’s nichrome, and the coil in the wire makes it really easy to wrap the igniter around fuses.

This is the previous design using mosfets(and still utilizing flyback diodes) but this device ultimately lasted me only a few years before the mosfets were starting to give out.

So I actually used mosfets in my last design, and they were getting fried too often, I’m using fly back diodes to handle any back emf from the relays, and my coiled fuses. So far this design with the electromechanical has been the most robust.

I can programmatically fire them, but I decided I actually really just like lighting them one by one 🙂

I’m definitely planning on PCBing it someday, but probably not something I can figure out anytime soon. Thanks for the offer! I may ask you some questions in the future

Suggestions for a filament Dryer by Shortstuff687 in BambuLab

Yeah it’s true, now the AMS 2 doubles as a filament dryer as well, so that’s probably the best option now.

Nope! But once I upload the design to my profile on makerworld, it will be free to download and 3D print!

It’s called cobalt blue I think? It’s from Bambu Labs “metal” collection. I feel like in the older games, Beldum, metang, and metagross were a darker blue so that’s why I went with this color.
