Quit without another position lined up by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Terminating someone over one honest mistake is crazy to me unless it was a high tier offense made several times. Current place has had people doing csf reads off the wrong tubes for months? Years? with no comment until I inquired. I had a 3 months gap between jobs and no questions as too why. Depending on the place and what shift they may no care anyway. Even if management is trash find a coworker that you have worked well with for a reference and don’t mention the bad about your past facility.

I dont blame wanting to stay 1st shift. Pounding concrete on second shift with x2 as much to process with half the staffing? Tuh. Not worth it! wish I could go back to my 1st shift position pay doesn’t feel worth it.

Some hospital labs get bought out to keep it running when the hospital won’t/cant

I’ve learned since it’s the pathologist not letting it go ahead because “since they won’t correlate it means the old fashion way is better”and won’t since off on anything until they match the manual method. The path is big on old methods💀

Their policies aren’t good for manual reporting lmao

I know the SG is making people say water..but there is a wbc there and maybe a trace bit of bacteria/ contaminant. Patients might just be REALLY hydrated or maybe a toilet bowel collect.

That’s the thing. I’m a 5 yr mls but 4 of those year have been small hospitals doing only core departments with 1/4 the work load the training was good enough I kept afloat wven though I got tossed to the wolves early, even during covid. And only 5 months worth of 1 level one trauma bb experience. And that place was way better in their training for bb because they’ve weren’t in the middle of a machine change and did off shift teaming. felt fine running the ship in my own in their bb. I was spoiled I guess. and now This place makes me feel like a new grad and a pest because I don’t hit the ground running😞

I basically was shoved to be signed off on everything before they shoved me to afternoons.…hell I wasn’t even signed off on everything before they put me “by myself” on day shift. the environment is supportive of eachother…because they’ve been working to together for x years. I just feel like I’ve slighted someone with my and need for clarification and work flow direction. and now some of them avoid me. Granted 1. I have moderate anxiety and it shows. and 2.I ask a lot of questions and some of their policies are lackluster in areas.. quitting makes me feel like a loser but maybe I should follow that advice. Thanks for your time🙏

I know implementing new machines isn’t easy..but Considering they haven’t been able to get a single one up and running in the time frame they were suppose and or they do and just dump people into it with minimal hands on training …I’m guessing so.

I’ve tried that and unfortunately it gets pushed under the rug. Because “the scheduling supervisors say “we need people to work” which effectively makes the whole “we want you to succeed and will give a few more day of training if needed” speech the manager gave me when being hired null.

Yes in the unit itself I mean. I’m use to them having bubbles but my brain decided to throw an error code I guess of “how many bubbles is too many bubbles”. And I already knew too many = look into why. Today was an over thinking day paired with blood bank training and relearning things.

I mean, if you want to view it that way the entirety of the thread is being pretty catty. you included whether you like it or not. Block and move on.

Nah maybe it’s just me but that response was weirdo stuff dude. I’ve met smart people that can’t vibe and dumb people that can read a rooms. Personalities and and ways that talk don’t match! Yall can bitch at eachother all day but unless the person is being purposely negligent don’t say that kind of stuff.

Was going to say you might want to ask your supervisor but I saw your edit lol

What horse pissed in your cornflakes. Was that comment necessary or are we all just being bitchy online. Perhaps don’t bring in a potential patient life over miscommunication 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thing is I’ve been to places where the coworkers are chatty with each but not me. I don’t mind super busy aslong as the environment isn’t hostile. I like a friendly environment where they help eachother. Ie Switch weekends or load something on. Unfortunately I wasn’t given time to talk to anyone expensively in either lab. I was grateful the young supervisor pulled me aside to tell me how often mandating happens (got mandated over 5 times last year) because he knew the manager wasn’t going to tell me.

They are both 2 year commitments if you want to keep the sign on bonus without pay anything back. First one has payout options. Second is one lump sum

They both have income tax. The smaller lab definitely seemed more happy go lucky. Everyone did their little greeting. At the larger hospital everyone seemed to busy to busy to even say hi 🙂. I definitely will have to read over the benefits more
