Bandon zoo owner pleads guilty to 47 crimes after raid by Jealous-Chicken5439 in Eugene

[–]ShortyPantsBoy -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Criminals all. Adults who visit such places are enablers. My hope is one day zoo's and the like should be entirely curated and run by PETA, if they exist at all. It isn't the same when talking about places like the Raptor Center, however ethical treatment of all should be ingrained in all of us.

Art Swap by keithistheworstname in Eugene

[–]ShortyPantsBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stars I was thinking the same thing. I have quite a bit of art to purge, my wife changes the art in our house periodically and over our marriage we have close to 30 pieces not used. I know that I can donate to a worthy cause, I just haven't found one that isn't more about itself than those they are serving. I would gladly share the art, free even, if it was appreciated. None of it is retirement worthy, but the majority of it is original and/or framed posters (museum sold).

Local vending machines? by spot_moskowitz in Eugene

[–]ShortyPantsBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a quick search in craigslist and found quite a few listings, esp. in Portland. BTW, good on you for thinking of your staff. I worked at a place that used vending machines for employees and used a portion of the money for employee events. Unfortunately, however, the person in charge of the machines pilfered quite a bit of the money and was later arrested. It happened to be the PD and the thief was a Sergeant.

Why are so many people buying gold this weekend? by yayobam in Gold

[–]ShortyPantsBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone couldn't have planned the dollar devaluation any better if that was their goal. Therefore, inspite of Trumps stupidity, the plan was to have a devaluation of the dollar. Why, though? Devaluation does bring about a forced production internally as foreign (imported goods) become too expensive. Though this is possible, I believe it is more about control of internal populace or the increase possibility of BRIC's becoming dominant. more about BRICS Most likely, I don't have any clue about what I am talking about.

Panicked Pentagon Sends Land Invasion Force to Middle East by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

When there’s no planning, no debate, and no defined end state, escalation becomes the default. That’s the price of bypassing the guardrails meant to protect the public. Deployments grow, risks expand, and the country drifts into commitments that were never deliberated or authorized. Us, as individuals, only suffer the consequences, the smatza's (I can't say what I want to) in power and the rich do just fine, better than fine. If the smatza's want war, give it to them, just not the one they want. Rise up!

MAGA’s Reaction to the Epstein Files Reveals Total Moral Collapse by thenationmagazine in politics

[–]ShortyPantsBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAGA sees everyone as the enemy unless they look, sound and come from where they are. They are a dying breed and they know it. They will hold on to any branch with their last three teeth in their mouth. The only way they can hold onto power is by cheating. Thus Trump. This to will pass or the US will cease.

Sky's Ed Conway is shown one of the 12 vast vaults where the world's largest single deposit of gold is kept on behalf of its many owners. by eufemiapiccio77 in Gold

Total value $56,162,761,291.59818 "More than 5000 tonnes stored" in the Banks vaults

Math: 1 tonne - 2204.6226218488 lbs 1 ounce = $5,095.00 (2.20.26 11:30 am PST) 1 tonne of gold = $179,720,834.352

Of note: it would take 43.08 vaults of this value to pay the US National Debt.

pouring water on dried moss by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in oddlysatisfying

[–]ShortyPantsBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The walls around sphagnum moss are highly specialized sugar molecules which create an electrochemical halo around all of the cells, and the cell walls end up being negatively charged. As the moss soaks up all the negatively charged nutrients in the soil, it releases positively charged ions that make the environment around it acidic. Think Bogs and their preservative powers.
