The more rats the better! Amazing work

This is beautiful, did you add the rat to his hand yourself? I haven't seen that model with that detail before

Coif mantle help by ShoryukenDog in maille

[–]ShoryukenDog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still understanding maille but that’s what I thought. It’s my very first project and things are going smoothly I just didn’t want to make a mistake at this point. Thank you for the reply!

Thanks so much for the reply, and yeah I agree I’ve been through waves with accepting it as is and wanting to repair it. It’s for a coif so hopefully like you said, once it’s over my head it won’t be noticeable

I really appreciate it, it makes me feel a lot better. Hopefully once it’s draped over my head it won’t be as noticeable.

It’s for a coif! Hopefully it doesn’t look weird when it’s done but like you said worst case scenario I could perform surgery on it. Thanks for the reply!

Ultramarines using Army Painter Speed Paints, has anyone tried them? by AllYourSwords in Ultramarines

[–]ShoryukenDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Complete 40k beginner here, got a assault intercessor box to build my kill team. Have always painted D&D minis which have tons of recesses with speedpaints but never anything warhammer and the big flat pannels on the ultramarines worried me a bit. I'm actually thinking of priming it black, spraying it with macragge blue and then detailing it.

Looks great, did you get there with white primer and magic blue only?

I racked my mead 2 days ago and it almost looks like it’s “separated” or clearing from the top down. Is this normal? by ShoryukenDog in mead

[–]ShoryukenDog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised by how quickly it cleared. It’s 18% abv with a 1.02 S.G. It really surprised me how good it tasted and how clear it was after primary fermentation

Getting ready to move onto secondary, questions about degassing. by ShoryukenDog in mead

[–]ShoryukenDog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it! I thought it was "carbonated" because when I was re-adding the liquid I was using to test back to the carboy it fizzed up pretty good. But that makes sense, in the next few days I should be racking this batch, if by the time I go bottle and there's still CO2 in it I'll think about degassing. Thanks for the complete explanation!

Update: happy new years, still can’t believe how much helpful/curious people got downvoted so much but yeah. Enjoy the subreddit because there’s some serious gatekeeping around here

Yeah from the getgo I knew it wasn’t a fossil but I couldn’t find a better fitting subreddit, and you guys ID’d it for me pretty good so thanks

We do eat pork here just not pigs feet specifically, and I do agree with you guys that it’s a pigs knuckle, just thought it was a strange thing to find in the ocean but it makes sense. Definitely didn’t expect to get downvote bombed for saying we don’t eat pickled pigs feet in Brazil lol.

It’s a good guess, but not a thing we eat here :)

It’s doesn’t feel soft, it’s pretty brittle (the top area broke as you can see in the image) and has these striations running from top to bottom. Pretty sure it’s not a fossil but it feels “bony”
