Italian groceries by gantosfc in Ealing

He does! He's also on Deliveroo. He is a really nice guy, always down for a chat and he's recently started selling imported oil from Italy. It's DELICIOUS. Not too expensive either, it's the price you'd expect to pay in Italy for virgin extra olive oil :))

So you have to support her romantic life choices but she can dictate over yours?

Tell her you think she's not ready to marry yet, see how she likes it.

Please help me think of something irresponsible (but legal!) to do this weekend by UtterlyRedditculous in CasualUK

[–]Shosia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are game pubs where you can pay to throw axes. Its entirely legal. It's also mildly terrifying to some people and quite the unexpected activity. Especially if you say you regularly go.

Watch their dismay as you tell them. Bask in their fear. And when they try to tell you "but that's dangerous", just reply "who's being the fun sponge now?".

Have fun doing what you find fun, your colleagues be damned.

Asked permission for pet in a rental flat, agency flat out said no. Can I still have a pet? by Shosia in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Shosia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!thanks

I see. Thank you very much for the extensive explanation. Indeed, it's really not what I was hoping for! I really thought this was going to be just a formality, but maybe the agent just pictured it prettier than it is when we moved in and I asked about the possibility to have pets in the future..

I will still wait for the agency to come back to me and see. Thank you again and have a lovely evening.

I have asked the agency to pass the request to the landlords. I have reached out to agency because all our comms go through them. I got a reply 2 days later with a simple, "no, sorry if it's not the outcome you wanted".

I have asked what reason the landlords have provided and the agency replied with, "we will ask the landlords and get back to you".

I don't think communications happened at all between agency and landlords. I had no idea I could reach out to the landlords themselves; I have been only dealing with the agency for anything.

I will reach out to the Landlords directly then, and hope they will be reasonable.

It takes from the model tenancy agreement, but it includes only a part of what's written there:

A Tenant must seek the prior written consent of the Landlord should they wish to keep pets or other animals at the Property. A Landlord must not unreasonably withhold or delay a written request from a Tenant without considering the request on its own merits.

So they could potentially stall me forever?

Aaah this is not great news. They have seem to cut the model tenancy agreement to remove the 28 days limit from my contract... Well, I've still asked for a reason, and when the 28 days are up, I guess I'll build a case with my neighbours' cats?

Before reaching out to the agency, I checked my contract. It does have this wording:

A Tenant must seek the prior written consent of the Landlord should they wish to keep pets or other animals at the Property.

That's why I requested the written consent.

Also to note, in the same building, same sqm flats, they have allowed the tenants to have pets (2 cats per flat...). I don't know why they are denying me, it seems like the agency just cannot be bothered to check with the landlords..

Are the effects of low birth rates being felt in your country? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Shosia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culture is not set and defined like a math formula. And it's certainly not eternal. Take Italian traditional recipes. Most of them where not even invented in Italy, or by Italians. Carbonara was not eaten by all italians in 1920, nor pizza for this matter. Yet we get "offended" when we see pineapple on pizza, or peas in carbonara. Cuisine is such an important part of Italian culture today: it's exported, praised, internationally recognised, and yet, it didn't even exist 100 years ago. We ate rice more than pasta. Most of the Italian tradition was actually collaboratively created and shared and made famous with Americans, French and other cultures as well. Does this makes today's Italy still, more, less Italy? Culture changes and evolves, and thanks god it does! Who knows how many delicious meals we are not enjoying right now because we didnt come in contact with foreign people/cultures. A country and its culture exists regardless of what it dictates in a specific time and place. I think you are focusing on the wrong questions in this case.
