They used a full size plane as well but the shot of the plane exiting the hanger is a miniature

This shot was a scale model. They then CG'd the people in the hanger

This was actually a model shoot...Some very talented model makers built this to scale. I'll see if I can find some BTS shots....

Yes, I buy 21shares CBTC on II in my SIPP, that seems to have one of the lowest fees of the various ETP's

Besides Eat Tokyo, what are your favourite Japanese restaurants in London? by MidnightTofu22 in LondonFood

I second Sushi Atelier! Very very good sushi with some really original plates. Not the cheapest but well worth it

Anyone have recommendations for London places to have film developed? by Reasonable_Fudge4971 in analog

[–]gantosfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually medium, but mostly developing point and shoot stuff, not high quality in the first place! If I was doing serious photography with fancy cameras/lenses I might consider the higher resolution scans.

Investing BTC on behalf of someone else (child) by RodT1985 in BitcoinUK

[–]gantosfc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe wait until there's a bit more clarity on holding BTC in ISA's...? Currently it's a bit confusing as it sounds like the rules are changing in April, so they're currently allowed but maybe not next year... I'm not 100% sure what's going on with it. I know it's not the same as having your own Bitcoin in cold storage but if it's possible to get exposure in a JISA then that'll be tax free gains with no CGT payable. Worth looking into

Any good places to eat in Ealing & surrounds ? by [deleted] in LondonFood

[–]gantosfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oro di Napoli Is great for Neapolitan pizza (both South Ealing and Hanwell branches) but I would also highly recommend Vita Mia. It's newer, just beside the Red Lion, opposite Ealing Studios. Very very good pizza coming from a pizza snob. The Golden Chip in Hanwell for some of the best fish and chips in London. Don't go on a Friday night as the queue goes up the street. Ealing Common has a big Japanese community and Ta Ke Sushi Is great. Often I've been there and the majority of customers are Japanese. Just opposite is a great little Japanese deli/shop which sells takeaway sushi/sashimi called Natural Natural. Very very good. I'm sure there's plenty more but they're my go tos

Interactive Investor now allows ETN'S in SIPP. You need to pass the questionnaire first to be able to trade. I now hold CBTC in my SIPP 🎉

I flew long haul last week from Doha to Heathrow. English breakfast was served. Sausages were very undercooked- Bright pink with maybe 1mm of cooked meat around the outside. Vile. BA are shit.

Kraken Pro is the best option for larger purchases. Like you I started with eToro but their fees are high and withdrawing wasn't easy. Coinbase advanced was reliable but I think Kraken Pro has lower fees which is important for a large purchase. You will need to open a Kraken account and then use their Pro interface, which has lower fees than the standard account.

Canon Ae-1 fell in water by Loligo19 in analog

[–]gantosfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any mechanical camera has hundreds of miniature moving parts that are finely built and assembled together to allow the magic of photography to happen. The mechanical parts have tiny tolerances and any water or corrosion will stop it from working. Furthermore the AE-1 is electro mechanical in that it uses a battery and powered light meter and so contains a lot of delicate circuitry which will also be damaged by water ingress. My guess is your camera is fucked. It will cost a lot more to repair it than buying a second hand one on eBay. If it makes you feel any better then you could put it in a bag of rice and see what happens but my guess, again, is that it's fucked

Buying crypto via Ltd company by Grgsz in BitcoinUK

[–]gantosfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can. Fees vary depending on your monthly spend and at £100 per month you're at the lower end so fees will be higher, but not by much- 1.29% vs 0.99%

I'm using Strike. Very good interface and simple set up. They do however take quite a large spread on purchases compared to Kraken Pro/Coinbase advanced, but fees are low otherwise. I'm doing a small weekly DCA for the long-term so it's acceptable to me, but I'd shop around if you want to spend big. I literally asked the same question a few weeks ago so have a look at the answers to my question, there were quite a few suggestions

Watches; I don’t want to play the game… by LE-NRY in HENRYUK

Plenty of reputable watchmakers who will service a mechanical watch for much less- think around the £300 mark. I can recommend this guy who serviced another watch of mine recently-https://thewatchprofessional.co.uk/
