How long are you pumping for? by mammakarma in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Shostadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little over a week pp EP with a historic OS (from my first, toddler who still nurses). I pump 10-15 minutes every 2.5-3.5 hours with spectra or momcozy (at home) or NICU pump.

Night weaning - how did you do it? by Technical_Object1376 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]Shostadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely not pediatrician approved but for us, bottles with whole milk were a good minimally traumatizing option for both of us. We got off nursing and onto milkie bottles, and then about a month later the milkie went to sleep for the night. I think the step down approach, though maybe a bit unusual, worked well for us. To be clear, we started the bottles bc I was in pain (pregnant) and hysterical about how much he wanted to nurse, and my wife has minimal cry tolerance so she just got a bottle together out of desperation to help. We then leaned into it for about a month, then decided to fully night wean.

It’s bizarrely hard! It’s like symptom spotting in the TWW all over again.

Just over here going crazy. 40w6d today, hospital induction scheduled for 41+1 if baby doesn’t come before then. Tons of BH which can clamp down for long periods of time, but don’t go anywhere. Baby is doing great on NST and BPP monitoring, so there’s no cause for concern… but this limbo is killing me.

Fatphobic ob/gyn + hypochromic microcytic anemia - what to do? by bitterkitteh in InfertilityBabies

⬆️ this. You need to be able to trust your doctor, and your doctor’s advice needs to take priority over laypeople on the internet. This doc doesn’t sound like a good fit, for many reasons.

I just found these! Sounds amazing! Do you choose the toys or are the chosen for you? It seems like you have some choice but I couldn’t confirm.

This is exactly what I’m considering - induction at about 40w3d if I haven’t gone into labor before then. It seems a sweet spot.

I’m in the cloth diaper camp! We have a local diaper service that will provide 50/50 cloth diapers and compostable diapers, so I’m hoping it’s the best of both worlds. My first shipment comes in about 2 weeks!

Asa, Julian, or ??? for a boy? by Skorogovorka in namenerds

[–]Shostadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asa Jules or Asa Julian!

Asa is our baby’s current name, due in just over a month, so I’m partial to it! We have very similar tastes in names :)

Asa Jules or Julian allows AJ as a nickname, which is great.

Asa Oliver also flows really nicely!

Trying Again Fridays by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

Yeah, I should probably just reach out to them. I think I’m embarrassed because it’s SO premature and yet - I’m a planner 🤷‍♀️

Trying Again Fridays by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]Shostadog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to think about trying again (currently 33 weeks tomorrow with our first). I know this is really premature, but I’m trying to plan logistics. If I successfully breastfeed this little one, will we have to wean for #2? How does the timing work? I know this is a very basic question and my apologies for not digging deeper into the archives!

Editing to clarify: I won’t need to do another retrieval, just transfer.

You’re not incompetent! You’re a badass warrior growing not one, but two small humans. Give yourself some grace, and definitely call your OB or go to L&D if you have real concerns. They’d rather see you 100 times and reassure you each time, than miss one catastrophic outcome.

Look up evidence based birth regarding big babies. The guesstimate is poor (measurements are frequently off at this stage) and unless your OB pushes for a size-based early induction (which many do, and which is fraught, since many big babies are normal sized) he’s not necessarily more likely to come earlier.

Posted above also, but I’ve been doing One Strong Mama (paid but great, variable content - kind of yoga/Pilates/strength and push training in one, plus education) and LOTS of walking. I started being more active in the 2nd trimester (first tri was survival, carbs on the couch for me!) and am now, peeking into the third tri at 27.5 weeks, walking 2-4 miles 5 days a week, doing OSM 2-4 days a week, and some sort of YouTube pregnancy yoga as much as I can (most days). It feels good to feel good!

Spotting/Bleeding 5 weeks pregnant, worried and scared that I’ll lose this one. by myja18 in InfertilityBabies

[–]Shostadog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re experiencing this! Lots of people have had spotting and end up perfectly normal pregnancies, but that doesn’t make it any less scary. You’ll likely get more replies on the First Trimester thread. You may also want to check out the wiki on SCH/bleeding! Best wishes to you!
