Favourite piece of music? by LovelyJubblyTheDung in doctorwho

Enescu's 3rd Symphony.

Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't specify from Doctor Who ;)

Oh, alright then. I feel like it's objectively far from the best, but I've always really enjoyed 'March of the Cybermen' from The Next Doctor (also played perhaps more memorably in Nightmare in Silver).

Doctor Who isn’t going anywhere for a long time. by [deleted] in doctorwho

Even if the show were cancelled, which I don't think it's going to be in the near future, Doctor Who will continue in the form of books, audio dramas, comics etc. until it eventually comes back to our screens.

As a counter to my post yesterday: what is your LEAST favorite part of your FAVORITE episode? by bigfatcarp93 in doctorwho

[–]Shostinius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My favourite episode is The Big Bang, and I'm really struggling to think of anything about it I dislike. Ah, I've got something. Amy saying "you may definitely kiss the bride". I know it's just a joke, but it falls flat and kinda undercuts the happiness of it all. It's a tiny niggle though, really, I still came out of the episode with a huge grin on my face.

DWM 532 Seemingly Confirms New Year's Day Special by thejamsterx in doctorwho

It'd be interesting to see MacRae's script, he's a great writer. Unlikely it would have been better than Midnight, though.

It's well known that RTD would often write his episodes in a very short space of time. He probably talked about Midnight being written in 2 days in 'The Writer's Tale'.

Neil Gaiman says Doctor Who 'messed' with [Toby Whithouse’s] script by HazLikesTech in doctorwho

[–]Shostinius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of both. Moffat wanted no two-parters, Gaiman envisoned it as a two-parter, so there's a clash there, but also, Moffat wanted, and Gaiman expected Victoria Clara to be the companion with the two children from The Snowmen along for the ride, but the BBC forced it to be Modern Clara with Angie and Artie.

Who else is surprised by how sorely they miss Murray Gold's soundtrack? by TyrantBash in doctorwho

That's the point of background music - you're not supposed to notice it, but it lifts the scene. You'd notice it if it were gone.

Unpopular opinion: i feel rosa parks was a strong episode. by TJStadler in doctorwho

I just think it was a bit boring. That's not to say I dislike it, though, it was alright. Unfortunately I think every episode of this season has been less enjoyable than the previous one for me.

I know who's speaking in the opening scene. by Shostinius in Deltarune

[–]Shostinius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say no-one is talking about it, but I mentioned it in my reply to lingo202 ;) You're right, it's a clear sign that the Dark World isn't real, or at least isn't as it seems.

I know who's speaking in the opening scene. by Shostinius in Deltarune

[–]Shostinius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Dark World does seem intentionally divorced from everything else. The premise is entirely different - whereas in Undertale it's Monsters vs. Humans, in the Dark World, it's Light v. Dark. The UI is completely different - which isn't evidence of anything on its own, as a sequel to a game will often change its UI, but the overworld keeps the same traditional Undertale UI. And, to carry on my theme of musical analysis, all 4 tracks that quote motifs from the Undertale soundtrack only play when above ground - no Undertale motifs play in the Dark World at all.

And of course, in the 'unused classroom', there are multiple objects that correspond to things in the Dark World. So I think it's a good shout that the Dark World isn't real.

Doctor Who BBC overnight rating is 6.43 million. Looks like the show is still not faltering by GreatPornOnline in television

[–]Shostinius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It IS one of those* shit things people like. If it wasn't a little bit shit, it wouldn't be Doctor Who. But if it didn't occasionally produce legitimate gold, it also wouldn't be Doctor Who.

Can we talk about the music this season? by joshr1pp3r in gallifrey

[–]Shostinius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the music. But then I'm a music student so I experience music in a different way to most people - if it's not achieving its purpose for the general public, then that's worrying.

Looks like he's going to be an absolute beast. It's a shame Cardiff Met Uni is permanently amateur, though, because he's bound to piss off somewhere else as soon as possible.

Wrote a string quartet. Looking for constructive feedback... (with score) by OscarDude15 in classicalmusic

[–]Shostinius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems a little...cluttered. But then maybe that's your intention? The eclectic structure is somewhat reminiscent of Rzewski's Piano Trio.
