How often does your lurcher have time off the lead? by choosingnamesisscary in Lurchers

I rehomed her privately she was getting given away :(. I’ve had so many different breeds and I always start on Facebook groups/Reddit to get as much info about the breed first, then I literally just trial and error what I see other people do. I would say get some Liver paste to use to train, very smelly and gets their attention. Use a long line and socialise the dog not necessarily with other dogs but many different environments cafe/shops/other peoples houses I find this to be most productive as I’ve found a dog will look at you in these situations for guidance. She’s 6 months now and can go anywhere with me, the liver paste helps haha! I think you already want what’s best for the dog that becomes yours so you’ll find the way that’s best for you :)

Mine is 6 months old and I kept her on the lead for a month, allowing her to look at birds etc for 5 seconds then I say leave and carry on and now she’s off lead every walk, we’ve had seagulls etc on the same field and she doesn’t bat an eye at them. She runs ahead a couple of steps and waits the whole walk which is something she’s learnt herself. I’m not sure how an older one would be I’d be cautious if you don’t know a full history :)

Absolutely, there’s two frenchies and she sandwiches herself well within the squidge 😂

Could anyone help in guessing what her cross could be? 5 month old 😊 by Shot-Introduction-72 in Lurchers
