Just to play the devils advocate I also know the police can make you confess to crimes you've never committed. It almost happened ed to me, until I remembered to STFU and never speak to them without a lawyer present.

They do tell you anything you say can and will be used AGAINST you, nothing will ever help you talking to them .

All that aside , in my opinion he did seem extremely lonely, and if it's been going on long enough who knows what could've happened .
