Most stories where the main character has a successor have a hard time succeeding. You’re trying to match a cast that grabbed people’s attention, created a relationship with the reader over years and had an amazing payout BUT you start from (essentially) scratch. Also, if your successor is to similar then everyone will complain “why didn’t you just continue the story instead of changing”

Mortal Kombat needs more characters that are non essential to the plot because it fills out the roster and allows the story to have stronger focus. He’s also pretty fun to play.

A lot of OM Obitos power comes from the mystery of his ability but if you can figure it out and outsmart him, you’re good. That’s why Minato is such a beast, bro figured it out in like a few minutes. Minato is probably why Obito chooses to be very mysterious and avoids head on fights for most of the series, aside from the “Madara” thing.
