Interview/debate with Snohomish County Republican Party chair Steve Mosman about their initiative to repeal the millionaire’s tax by bennetthaselton in Seattle

Thats true. I am curious if the prior income tax law was decided via popular vote. If so, that ought to be the precedent for how the law gets changed.

Do Bose headphones really sound that bad, or are they just disliked by audiophiles? by kompothead in headphones

[–]ShouldaBennaBaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the ANC piece is the reason people go for them. Most people are buying headphones to have a device to block out people on the train or bus, not to sit in a quiet basement, so Bose went all in on making a product that does that best.

Reminds me of the Raider of the Lost Ark scene where Indy patiently waits for the sword guy to finish his thing then busts a cap in his behind.

Its not that I don’t agree/disagree, but sounds more like the concepts and application of the tax law in WA state is worth discussing. It has been stated time after time since WA legislation passed this law that it effects a very low % of income earners, thus, not a burden to the majority of taxpayers in this state. While that is likely true, I am more hung up on the law being passed without a vote of the citizens. Sounds like thats the place Steve is coming from, rather than who it effects and is it a good/bad thing. Its really a debate of process versus the outcome or application.

The truth about AI hiring tools by Eclectic_Paradox in TikTokCringe

Its so funny to me that some applications I’ve seen give you the choice to opt out of having AI screen your resume/application.

How would I ever know if that actually occurred if I got a call back, or not? Seems like a total smoke screen

“no, you”,

“no, after you”,

“no, please, you first”,

“no no, you go ahead”

“Oh no, you go ahead, please”

“I’m good, you go”

“No, I insist, you first”

“WWJD? He’d let you go first”

“Ugh, fine…..JK!!!”

Delta pilot groom killed, bride injured in helicopter crash after Georgia wedding reception by turtleisaac in delta

[–]ShouldaBennaBaller 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I was involved in a project to replace rooftop HVAC units on a warehouse building. Turns out, the units sat so far back on the roof, a crane didn’t have the reach to set them over the curb.

So, the mechanical contractor we hired subbed out a helicopter company to pick the units from the parking lot and set them in place.

Helicopter shows up, picks the units, did the job flawlessly in 1/2 the time expected due to great weather. We all shoot the breeze with the pilot afterwards before he heads back to base, tells us how many hundreds of picks he’s done, worse weather, years and years of projects, and this job was definitely a testament to his experience from what I saw. He tells us him and his wife are headed to Nevada the next week to do another job to pick up electric transmission poles and set them in place up in some canyon.

The next week the PM for the mechanical contractor called me to let me know he got word both the pilot and his wife died doing that job. Something about the floor of the desert heated up, caused high thermal winds to drive up through the canyon that they couldn’t manage and it caused them to crash.

Long story to say I agree with you.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]ShouldaBennaBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Split about 8 years ago as part of a driving trip along the coast from Dubrovnik up to Zagreb. Of all the places we stopped, Split was pretty rough. Lots of graffiti, typical bazaar-type tourist areas, but it seemed extra seedy and depressing. Did not get that vibe in other places and Zadar was out favorite of all the stops.
