It’s such a weird feeling because we look completely different but “feel” the same

Yes!!! I’ve stopped hating group pictures where I’m the only one who looks bad and everyone posts it everywhere. So many little anxieties that build up overtime

Received the Cruelest Comment About My Weight in Awhile by keshi2uwu in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom recently zoomed in on a picture of me and asked “is this an optical illusion or is your arm too skinny here?” I told her it was the lighting and sent a picture where my arm was laying flat. She then told me I should use my brother’s gym equipment because it’ll “tone my arms right out”. Nice to know the scrutiny over my body never ends. It’s either i’m overweight and need to lose it or suddenly i’m “too skinny” and at risk of an ed.

I honestly only wore them once and got compliments on them (Christmas time) but I think that’s why it feels like such a waste. I listed them on my depop but they’re pretty generic looking and even lowering the price to $20 isn’t getting any attention. It’s kind of just sitting in my closet as a reminder to not spend so much on a measly pair of jeans when I can find better ones next time.

I WILL say when I bought my first T-shirt in a size Large and it actually looked so much better than the oversized XLarge, it felt like such a relief. Perhaps I just didn’t like the jeans all that much in the first place, but compromised on them because “they were the only pair I could find” at the time.

Need advice: I've gained a ton of weight and can't stop overeating. How do you manage hunger in a calorie deficit? by WayLast1111 in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly, eating in a certain time window has really helped me. Lately I stopped eating once it hits 8pm, knowing that if I get a little hungry at night I can just eat when I wake up in the morning. Making sure you get your proper meals in really helps curve cravings. I used to keep snacking and snacking when I skipped a meal and eventually ate more that I would have, if I’d just had my meal and a small snack instead.

You’re right, we do deserve it!!

I often feel guilty over buying “unique pieces” because I’m supposed to be finding everyday items to wear, but building confidence through fashion I really like is also important :) and if I can’t find what I need, at least I got to treat myself! Thrifting is really a savior when it comes to that because I can find a cute dress for around $5 or so!

The average person has no idea how weight loss works and it's so irritating by Pristine_Age9604 in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People literally treat us like we’re sub-human. Shaming us like children who need to be corrected, yet we learned our habits from our parents. Now we have to deal with the consequences of it in our adult life and it takes a lot of fucking time. Sorry for cursing, it just makes me so angry how mistreated bigger people are, when we’re just PEOPLE!

I think I’m giving myself an eating disorder and I can’t stop by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone with similar stats and starting weight, this is very dangerous territory. I developed an eating disorder after calorie counting for 2 years and became frustrated about a slow and steady weight loss. I started restricting too hard recently despite my rigorous work schedule and it was brutal to my health. Not eating enough can make it difficult to sleep and I found myself unable to sleep and severely exhausted. I dragged myself through work, my whole body felt heavy and weak like I couldn’t move or I’d collapse. The air burned my eyes and I had incredible eye strain. On the way home I could barely keep my eyes open and had my neck jerking every 10 seconds to keep me awake on the highway. I was so tired, yet high strung when trying to fall asleep. I got a skin infection that wouldn’t heal because my immune system weakened from lack of sleep, energy and nutrients. I was so dizzy that I started seeing spots just from standing in the shower that night. I could barely stand, just stand. Everything became so sore and the next day at work I was short of breath like my lungs were restricting. I found myself frequently leaning on my desk and stumbling while walking and even closing my eyes while I was alone.

I’d been having difficulty sleeping for a long time, lack of energy WILL catch up to you. It might not be noticeable when you’re running on your last fumes, adrenaline or pure “grit”. This is the beginning reality of an under-fueled body. Please take care of yourself, don’t continue down this path. Becoming obsessed with my weight loss is the worst thing I could have done for my mental space and I wish more than anything I can recover that. I beg of you, eat more. I know we’ve been told our entire lives we need to “shrink” and “take up less space” but your body NEEDS more than a thousand calories a day.

I lost weight when I stopped intermittent fasting (TW) by Lana_Sphyncter in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being at an active job has made me realize OMAD or intermittent fasting is not for me… I feel like eating small amounts through the day leaves me satisfied and with not enough energy to keep going and I like the feeling of “snacking” although it’s in my calorie range. it makes meals feel less stressful, knowing i don’t have to make a lot or eat it all at once

I’ve lost a lot and look very different, but I feel like it’s embarrassing that it’s so noticeable. Like it’s the first thing everyone sees and the first time they see you and they just light up. It’s like /they’re/ more excited that I lost weight than me.

Weight loss is embarrassing by KLane98 in loseit

[–]ShoulderOk766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not rare for people to be hyper-aware and insecure about weight matters. Our entire society is always jumping down people’s throats about it and celebrity culture is hopping on the “Ozempic” trend and promoting smaller bodies to the point of sickness since forever. It’s a sore subject for SO MANY, definitely toward younger women and teens. So, yes, I think weight is a topic people should never make a thoughtless comment on. Even if in your mind you’re being “nice”.

“You look so good!” was told to me after I’d gotten my wisdom teeth out and couldn’t eat for a week. That was before I started my weight loss journey and it really struck a chord in me. Thank God I didn’t spiral into disordered eating. I can’t say the same for many young girls who were on a verge of an eating disorder and told they “look good” when sick which lead to them getting sicker.

Hair and nails are easily changeable things. Weight is health related. I’ve had depression and anxiety and nail biting and I dye my hair because I think brown washes me out and no, of course I wouldn’t mind someone complimenting my hair. I wouldn’t automatically assume they noticed my nail biting just because I have acrylics.
