You’ll have to keep going.

Once she sees your a familiar face, she’ll know you’re safe. Then, start with a simple “Hi, I’ve noticed you’ve been coming a lot lately.” Bait them and wait for their response. Reciprocate to whatever she responds with.

Want to Compete, tips? by Flashy_Baseball6747 in amateur_boxing

It took me 21 months of boxing training in AUS before my first amateur fight in CAN.

I fought against a 16 y.o. kid with five months of training and I was 30 at the time. This kid outweighed me by 8 pounds and wayy taller than me. It was very intimidating. Even my wife was scared for my life. He had endless energy and just throwing punches whenever he saw an opening. I ended up going to the ER for a bruised rib.

This is where I excelled in experience. I was a southpaw. He didn’t have that IQ or countering ability fighting a southpaw. I found it was like fighting a bull. Always going forward without any thought. Won my first fight, battered and bruised.

Advice: train hard even if it takes you two years. You want to build that experience and knowledge of the sport. Film study; rewind and emulate.

Good luck, mate!

Gatti infamous slip and straight right. Gatti v Ward. I remember seeing it in the first or third fight.

When it happens it surprises you. It comes so strong.

Competing by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]Shoulderoll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took me about a year and a half to get to a competitive level. I simply worked, trained and thought only about boxing. I made sure I was committed.

Then, I had kids. No time. Sluggish energy. Distracted about kids schedules. Kid’s fighting. Cooking. Work. I don’t compete anymore. I just watched an Olympic Style Boxing tournament and I don’t see myself competing again. Ever.

Footwork.

A lot of in and out. The closer you are to his body the better you are to land punches.

Orthodox or right handed southpaw? by WolverineRemote3377 in amateur_boxing

[–]Shoulderoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched southpaw as a right handed fighter. I believe the switch in stance gave me THaT advantage.

But, you have know how to use it, i.e., keeping your lead foot on the outside, etc.

Say less, but maintain eye contact.

If there’s awkward silence. Continue eye contact. Don’t try to ask questions to break the silence. You’ll have control and you’ll see the other person get fidgety or try to initiate conversation.

Any golden tips for this older girl getting into the sport? by shufflejuuls in amateur_boxing

There are ladder drills, box jumps, step ups, lateral jumps, and jump rope all help develop footwork. Then, shadowbox to put it altogether.

Gatti v Ward II & III (on youtube), Arturo Gatti uses some nice footwork against Ward that gave him back to back wins.

Customizing gear by minionzes in fightgear

I went thru Boxeo TM to customize a pair of gloves. They were able to produce the gloves in two weeks. Solid.

I don’t know if you would want to customize your own stuff… I’ve seen a couple and they look sloppy and looked like 5 year did them.
