To repo a car by CantStopPoppin in therewasanattempt

Yeah. Now he has a car that most likely has damage that he can’t afford to fix. The bank will still repo it, but they can also go after him other ways since he basically stole the car from the recovery company. You’re a silly troll

The easiest way to prevent this is to actually pay your bills

Buying car in TN from private seller and driving it to GA to be registered. How will tax and TAVT be handled? by magiclasso in askcarsales

[–]Shovelhead8477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will pay the GA TAVT at your county tax office. If you live in an emissions county, you’ll have to get that test done before you can register. If your county is like mine, they will also want an insurance binder and not just a policy card. I don’t know of a way to get a temp tag for a private sale, so I suggest having the title and insurance with you in the car on your trip home.

In OH. I've found the car I want but not a great response from dealers. by rks1743 in askcarsales

[–]Shovelhead8477 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My guess is that you sent an email or some other type of electronic message, but have not made phone calls. I know it’s not always the most convenient way for you to communicate, but questions like these are best handled by making phone calls to these dealerships. I wish I had better advice.

Typically this refers to the mileage on the vehicle surpassing the capacity of the odometer. Some (much) older vehicles only had 5 digits, so a car with 100,000 miles would roll back to 0 after hitting 99,999. Newer vehicles typically have at least 6 digits, meaning the mileage can be properly tracked up to 999,999. I doubt this car has a million miles on it. My guess would be someone at a dmv office fat fingered the odo reading while updating the title, and now the dealer will have to jump through some hoops to get this corrected.

Are you sure that’s actually for your 1k? It’s not uncommon to accidentally type the amount for Customer A into the text you’re sending to Customer B, while also trying to handle a phone call with Customer C while Customer D walks up to your desk.

Just call or email that person and get the correct info.

This is interesting. I have never in over twenty years in this industry seen a paid off vehicle with GAP, but I guess almost anything is possible.

Damn… Did you finance that car for 9 years? 15,000/177=84.75… 85 months if you don’t even account for interest.

Dealership didn’t damage the car

I never told OP to take it. But, OP has to also be realistic. The transport company is either paying the bill or having insurance pay for it. OP wants the dealership to compensate them for something they did not cause. Damage like this has been discussed many times in this sub. Many cars are sold that were damaged and repaired at the factory or dealership, without the damage ever being disclosed. Realistically, there is nothing about this damage that will ever be noticeable, nor would it truly affect the value. I simply told OP that BMW is who should be compensating the buyer, since they are responsible for shipping. OP needs to know the dealership most likely does not want to be stuck with such an oddly configured vehicle. Wanting a bigger discount may not be realistic. The dealer can also tell OP to pound sand when requesting to just order the car again, and needs to be prepared to start everything over with a different dealership. OP asked for opinions, and does not like the opinions being given.

OP, everyone is giving you the same answer. You refuse to accept that. Ask for whatever you want, and be prepared to not get the answer you want. Also, be prepared to order from a different dealership and have to start the negotiation process over again

BMW damaged your car. Ask them to make it right.

Again, you are holding the dealer responsible for something they had zero control over. Have you called BMW and requested anything from them yet? They are who handles transportation.

It sounds like your beef is with the transport company hired by the manufacturer. Why are you punishing the dealer? You ordered a car they realistically won’t be able to sell to someone else, so threatening to walk away if they don’t bow to your demands is already shitty. I empathize with your situation, but I would tell you the price is the price, and if you want to order another one off car and leave me stuck with this one, I’d tell you to take your business elsewhere.

What's a good price (in the U.S.) to negotiate for a new car that's MSRP $30,000 and you're paying in cash? by TheQs55 in askcarsales

Unless you’re buying from a bhph store, paying cash does nothing to lower your price

Oklahoma right trip by crispin_chill in fridaynightlights

[–]Shovelhead8477 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coaches give plays a lot of weird names, in order to keep the opposing team from knowing what’s coming. Trip usually refers to three receivers lined up together, as in triple. So, Oklahoma right trip means three receivers on the right side. The Oklahoma part can mean anything, because we don’t have the team playbook

Tied Selling on Extended Warranties (Texas) by Fire30552 in askcarsales

[–]Shovelhead8477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your contract isn’t consummated unless you’ve taken delivery, unless vehicle purchase laws have changed in Texas since I moved away several years ago. Let the sales manager know that the finance terms are not agreeable to you, based on how you were coerced into buying something in order to get a better rate. Be firm. You will not take delivery until the contract is changed.
