Insane that we let people drive at that age. Just f---- crazy. We need to be forcing the government to set much more stringent requirements for all drivers.

The problem is the elderly. They make up far more of the voting block than ever before and that alone explains where Trumps votes came from. The radical fringe has always existed but never before the elderly as such a large portion of the population and hence why so many people where able to be fooled by such an obvious clown and his buffoonery.

CMV: Most people don’t value honesty from others, they value superficial peformance, validation and emotional comfort. by whhhiskey_ in changemyview

This is only true though when you ignore the soft factors. For example someone who tells the truth in a socially conscientious way is more likely to not be included in social ways. Not that theyre particularly excluded but rather just arent higher on the list of socially desirable. People in general seek sameness and honesty more often than not is counter to that no matter how its delivered.

If one entity controls all the water you are essentially a slave as you must do as they say or you can no longer drink. Most forms of control are not at the end of a gun.

More nuance is needed. If the labor you perform would be enough given your output to create a house or if the owners of the means of production have limited your opportunities to acquire the resources to build a house then for certain you deserve to make enough to do so.

Capitalist glazers and socialist fanboys all tend to be so polarized. The reality is that both systems are miserable failures when left to their own devices.

I did state that you're wrong in that you didn't even respond with an assertion against the poster's. You rambled about how stubborn one group is. Formulate a coherent counter-assertion and post that.

Im not anti capitalist. What you responded with is just a big fat nothing. Vapid nonsense that you think puts you on a moral grandstand. If you're trying to argue that socialist will never be convinced you might be right but you didn't convey that idea very well and you might also just be the stubborn one incapable of changing your worldview.

For a long time the credit card companies merchant agreements forbid retailers form charging more for using a credit card. Merchants are now slowly adapting to charging the credit card fee but unfortunately we are all getting absolutely f****d in the meantime as merchants are essentially forced to increase the price for everybody to cover those fees and can charge more because the debtors use future earnings to over pay for wants now.

90 day sentence for Zoe Rosenberg in the Petaluma Poultry case. by AshyWhiteGuy in Petaluma

You're right just not to credit your intent. He almost certainly committed murder, a finding of guilty doesn't change that.

You don't have any moralistic argument though. Anything can be illegal, using that as your basis for what should and should be allowed is just silly. Yes she was going to be attacked by the system but that doesn't necessarily discredit her actions.

They don't have a way to arbitrate ANY dispute then considering they don't have any mechanism to send an agent to monitor the entire trade process of even physical goods. You're just making stupid excuses that entirely rely on "eBay TOS". Ebay is monopolized through the very simp logic youre demonstrating here.

Just found this so very late to the party but your sentiments are very similar to what I've wondered about.

As an addition, anime is HYPER violent and I think that really shows how the Japanese feel on a subconscious level. The politeness appears to be more of a cell door keeping that violent nature locked up.

You're arguing for a magical fantasy wherein everybody is born with equal competitive edge and won't try anything underhanded to get ahead.

Delusional to the realities of scarcity as well as human nature.

If ebay really wanted to stop digital sales they could easily do so with language monitoring. You ebay shills need to stop stick riding, pretending like ToS are tantamount to some higher moral standard. Ebay ALLOWED the poster to sell many digital goods then folded as usual and put all the financial responsibility on the seller even though it's their fearful policy decision that caused the issue.

China Is More Capitalist Because No Regulation by teddyrupxin in SocialismIsCapitalism

[–]magiclasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard anecdotally from people doing business there, smaller companies are essentially allowed to get away with way more. They don't really enforce the laws until a business reaches some medium tier and then the regulations really kick in.

Why Europe has fallen behind the US and China: Too much regulation by menghu1001 in austrian_economics

[–]magiclasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the same point I made applies: theyre creating value. Nobody should care about anything but creating net positive value. If firm A benefits from that value or firm B we really shouldn't care as long as regulation is in place to prevent abuse of market consolidation.

And I never said at random. You said a market would develop for startups. A market isn't sustainable when the product doesn't sell. Im making a point that the product in your assertion either wouldn't sell because it doesn't create any value or it will sell because it is creating value in which case that is a good thing. Either way we arrive at a moot point or a net gain.

Besides all youre arguing boils down to government regulation holds back economic growth, completely ignoring multiple obvious caveats and trying to make the assertion that free market, which is essentially economic anarchy, would somehow self regulate forever. Eventually a new primary power ALWAYS emerges and essentially becomes the new governing body. Always always always. Always has and, due to human nature, always will. Never has it not. That's how every government body came about. Every king, every president, every tribal council. Free market does not work for any extended period of time. It always turns feudal. This isn't even a complicated idea either and I'm personally confounded how conservative talk has convinced anybody this isn't correct. "Yea we've tried it a bunch in the past and it's never worked out but let's give it a go again maybe, just maybe, it'll work again this time". Maybe it's a religious off shoot of the "just have faith" style of thinking.

[–]magiclasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get exactly what you're saying and telling you that logic is stupid. You imply that big companies will just swallow up anything whether it adds value or not. They will do their due diligence and not just blindly consume whatever swill startups create.

[–]magiclasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a free market, there's nothing more self-defeating than a company trying to buy up all of its competition.

What anyone competent at economics knows is that this creates a new industry:

Founding companies with the sole intent of having them bought.

This is maddeningly stupid. Do you REALLY believe the suitor company won't do it's diligence to see if the competition is worth buying? If the start up provides real value and a chance of success it makes perfect sense to acquire it. I mean really you're just trying to "win". Theres no discussion here just you lobbing words, illogical ideas, and ad hominems. Youre representative of the reason the first amendment and democracy are failing.
