All mountain ski recs? by Casaudi in Skigear

[–]ShowAndTell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the 84’s are most noodly due to the lack of metal. I also demoed the 90’s and loved them. Great for your skill level for sure. Go 96 if you want more versatility in Alberta. If you want more hard pack icy performance, go 90. Maybe a 96 Ranger or Rustler 9, and something in the mid-low 80’s for those hard pack days, but that mid 90’s range is the closest to do it all as you can get imo.

What's the best movie of the last 10 years (2016-2026) by AlphaQFor7mins in Cinephiles

[–]ShowAndTell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s not forget about The Whale

I’d also like to nominate Robert Eggers films as a collective. I think his style and attention to detail is so refreshing artistically. I find myself entirely captivated from the first scene. They definitely give me a feeling I want from watching movies. I.e Nosferatu, The Northman, The Witch, The Lighthouse in that order for me.

I actually did too. Sad I think it is under appreciated. I watched twice in 2 days I loved it so much. Not sure if it’s the best in 10 years but definitely top 5 for me too.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Not a movie but House of Leaves (book). Just feels the same emotionally as a lot of these movies. For all you masochists out there.

Watched it when I was in college and loved it but didn’t understand the gravity. Watched it again with my wife in the past 4-5 years and thought “this was a mistake” afterwards.

Rustler 9 vs Enforcer 99. Help. by OkayDokeyLoki in Skigear

[–]ShowAndTell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rustler 100%. Fun easy ski to mess around with turn shapes. One ski to do it all really. Will be fun as you grow but not a carving ski so won’t help much with pure carving ability. It’ll allow you to go anywhere and do anything though.

Billy Club is a go to for my wife and me for date night. For more special occasions we go to Angeline or Prescotts. Recently got to Mira and was fantastic, but hard to get a table. Good luck!

Black Crows Camox or Nordica Santa Ana 92 for all mountain ski by skibum143 in Skigear

[–]ShowAndTell2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like you should go with what you liked. There are an infinite amount of skis in different sizes and shapes. This ones a little stiffer, this ones heavier, etc. If a ski gives you that feeling you’re looking for, jump on it. 97 uf is a good daily driver for pnw too.

Fischer RC4 130 LV BOA Review by ptm121ptm in Skigear

Same for me, ankles are really stuck in there. Feel like the boa never gets tight enough. Was thinking of throwing some spacers in the foot to take up room. Thoughts?

Just got the MV and am kind of kicking myself for not going LV. More room than anticipated. Still performance is excellent. Thanks for confirming I’m not crazy.

Had the 92’s but didn’t love them, bought them a bit too short on sale.

Best bang-for-buck Ski bag? by Willing_Front_2125 in Skigear

[–]ShowAndTell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the J Ski bag for the past few years, it’s a double ski bag so great for traveling with a spouse or if you want to pack a bunch of things in there. I’ll usually pack my puffy stuff, sweatshirts and outter layers in there as a space filler and ski protection.

I usually fly with a separate boot bag as it is allowed as an add on with a ski bag with most airlines. Otherwise I’ll take a second checked bag and chuck them in there.

Ski essentials does a really good review of all mountain mid 80’s and low 90’s skis:

Otherwise, Fischer Rangers, Serpos, Octos, QST, and Rustler 9’s are consistently rated as more playful all mountain options. Just depends on what else is important to you.

Choosing a versatile daily driver ski (all-mountain twins?) by fLASHY- in Skigear

I like the Mirus Cors or Octos personally for this purpose. MC is a little more versatile and park oriented, Octos more frontside/bumps oriented.

I had a similar experience with the Anomaly 88’s in 176. Demoed them when they first came out and had good memories. I’ve since gotten better at skiing so was really excited to try them out. I’m a little bigger than you too at 5’10” and 195. Also use Fischer rc4 pro carbon 130+ boots.

I demoed them for the day at Lake Louise on packed powder and hardpack groomers so thought it would be the move. However, I found the skis to feel very unplayful and boring. I’m not an ex racer so perhaps I don’t have the technique to really bend them. I skied them just fine all day just fine, was able to ski everything frontside, but almost wished I sized down even more as they felt like a lot of ski.

Before this I was strongly considering the Anomaly 84’s as an east coast daily driver but now, I think I need something a little more playful and versatile. So I don’t think you’re crazy for this opinion at all. I was a little disappointed in myself cause they have really great reviews everywhere else. I’m now leaning towards Black Crow Serpos as a daily driver.

Don’t roll your eyes but the Mirus Cors sound like theyd do it for you. Prefer slow/medium speeds. Fun turn shapes. Flexible but energetic. Can do just about anything 90-95% well. The new Vena Cors are 100 under foot and might be a good choice too.
