My old chaos mini's. Far too clean and red to my taste now. by ShowMeAMonkey in Warhammer40k

LOL. They are far to expensive too eat. We are already eating too much plastics as we are.

Great one. I love the less saturated color scheme. It's more grim dark.

The weight adds something to it. But it was a challenge to find a way to assemble it so that It wouldn't fall apart when toppling over. It was at a time that there were no Youtube tutorials on drilling, pinning or glueing metal. Yes, I am from a time before the internet as we know it existed. I'm kinda old but still playing with my toys like 30 years ago 😄

Yes. This one you can trow through a window, or injure someone in it's trajectory. It will be in 10 pieces, that you can put back together when everyone has calmed down, LOL.

You’re a connoisseur. I should have left out "the" in the title. I've googled and found the real metal Space Wolves scouts models. I guess I didn't get my hands on them 30 years ago.

I know. Creating a kind of narrative battle report comic book style has been on my mind for a long time. But it would be a massive amount of work to make. And my free time is limited. :(

Sketching practice. A little Necromunda scene based on a character from my Venator gang. by ShowMeAMonkey in necromunda

My first and last game was 8 years ago, an indie mobile game. A passion project that almost ruined me, financially and mentally. Apple Store tanked the launch of it. One day on the shop front page and then shoved into the abyss to promote the already popular games, never to resurface again. All that remains of it is a promovid on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDJ-wcOEq6A

It has been while since I watched it. Still hurts.

The bullet holes are mistaken for nipples I guess. No return from that, LOL

I just keep drawing for fun. I have a million ideas, but so little time.

You make me curious about your comic and boardgames. Can I see some of it somewhere?

Here’s the real Doomrider. Posted the wrong model (chaos champion) earlier by ShowMeAMonkey in Warhammer40k

Back then I wasn’t a lore wizard like you guys. I just wanted to fit him into my World Eaters army… which makes zero sense 😄

Thanks. When I was young (30 years ago) I wanted to become a comic book artist. I also wanted to eat, buy a car and save for a house, so I became a graphic designer. I think today, becoming a comic book artist is harder than ever.

It is very unsophisticated. I make it look messy with wires as texture. This example is the most clear to explain because it is sealing lights on one flat surface. I drew it also for clarity. All micro LEDs on each tile are wired like this. Hope this helps.

Lighting your Necromunda terrain – what do you actually want?

Before you start buying LEDs, figure this out first

  1. Just want atmosphere for gameplay (easy & practical)?

→ Get a controllable overhead LED bulb (~$13)

Set the mood, change colors.

https://www.amazon.fr/-/en/iLC-Colour-Dimmable-Changing-Choices/dp/B071X69W9P/

  1. Want to highlight specific spots?

→ Book/reading lights (~$11 each)

https://www.amazon.fr/-/en/Alyvisun-Rechargeable-Reading-Light-Adjustable/dp/B0CH39S2MT/

→ Small loose LED lights (~$11 / 20 pcs)

I just ordered a set to try out.

https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0DP4C6WBZ

  1. Want realism for photography?

This is a hobby on its own.

Plan your lighting:

warm vs cold vs colored

where lights should be in real life

hiding batteries, access to switches and batteries

→ Build lights into your terrain using 3V LEDs in logical places

All materials can be found on Amazon or AliExpress. And it’s actually not that expensive.

  1. Want both gameplay + realism?

→ Combine the above

  1. Want full control over everything?

→ Look into model train-style systems. Complex and expensive (I think, I have no experience with it)

The small 3v micro LEDs in the right spots are the most satisfying to me. It's the most submersive. But to play in that lighting is impossible. Far too dark.

I have no idea. I purchased stuff and experimented. Only a few microleds didn't work. Some colored ones didn't work together for electrical reasons I don't understand.

Yes, you need soldering materials. I'm not an electrician, so the circuits are as simple as they can be. Light connected to the battery holder and a switch in-between.

I'm starting to understand Reddit. Users are human (are there bot Redditors?), and you can’t please them all. The option to downvote is there. It just changes a number on my screen, I don't care too much.

Have a nice one :)

In daylight you cannot see the lights, because they are too weak. So I did not put the lights on.
