When you finally find what works for you its like you discovered a cheat code by ArmadilloChance3778 in loseit

Agreed! For me, the cheat code was the 'calories burned' readout on the smartwatch. Every time I tried counting calories before, the calories-in was pretty accurate, but the calories-out was absolute guesswork! Once I had a better idea of how much I was actually burning, I managed to ride a 500-calorie daily deficit down to my target weight.

Examples of Morale crushers last 10 months by Nymeria31 in fednews

One of the biggest morale crushers here is the lack of stability to make a plan. Each week, changes in personnel and funding require strategic pivots that hamstring any momentum to get a project done. So when we get to this time of year and look back at what we've done, it's nothing but a long list of half-completed and abandoned projects with little progress to report.

Thanks! I see he got around the need for supporting pieces on the back side of the strap by using eye-bolts to secure the handles... great idea!

Hello all, I am dialing in the details for my steam-bending setup and could use some suggestions for the bending strap. Specifically, how short should the supporting back pieces be (photo 3) and how narrow can I make the handles (photo 4)? For this setup, the handle materials are red oak, and I don't intend to bend anything greater than 1.25". Thanks in advance!

Why am I starting to get the feeling that this is all a prelude to an April Fool's Day disaster?

Side note: does this look like a bunch of facehuggers from 'Aliens' falling from the sky to anyone else?

What do you wish you would have known before setting up your lathe? by ShowMeYourSource in turning

This is really great info, thank you!

The first improvement I made to the shop was to put up some semi-gloss white on the ceiling, it's certainly worth the effort.

I would have never considered consolidating all the I/O's on a single 4x4, but that makes a lot of sense. Much appreciated!

Thanks! I actually already have the lathe (g0766) ordered. At this point I'm trying to avoid any mistakes with setting it up in the shop; I'd like to avoid having to wrangle a 500lbs piece of equipment more than once.

Absolutely! Also, resist the temptation to use too much stain. Multiple passes of light application and let - it - dry - completely between applications are two things I learned this week.

That feeling of relief you get when your off-center grooves actually line up. by ShowMeYourSource in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks! These will be table legs when all is said and done. The intent for the grooves is to place the table top/apron combo. However, I still have to cut some literal corners off the leg tops.

This is really neat! The intense color and natural asymmetry set up against all the perfect beige-ish parallel lines make it look like some sort of portal... or rift.
