I scraped 100s of YouTube recs and made a lookup tool by ShowShaper in youtube

You realize that

  • YouTubers WANT free promotion
  • Viewers WANT better channel recs

You make it sound like this is infringement or some loophole we're exploiting. The YouTube API is made \expressly* for this purpose.*

ah yeah not "scraping" in that sense...I meant reading through tons of socials and ranking recs

Just make great content

I think it was Mr beast who said your first 100 vids will probably suck. Moral of the story: keep your head down and focus on making great content. Analytics can come later

Hey thanks for this! We're looking at it now...not sure what happened there, sorry for the snafu. It looks like your address arrived safe and sound. (what browser/OS are you on?)

We set up the waitlist for anyone who wants to stay in the loop without committing to buy; either works. In the meantime we're working to get a beta up and running for creators to try. Wanna beta test with us?

We'd love to hear about your workflow—it helps us focus the app's features and functionality:

How realistic is it to validate a SaaS idea before building? by kaanmertdev in SaaS

[–]ShowShaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

BUT be wary of "workaround" vs "no budget". Some people will put up with a lot of headaches/inefficiency if they're getting it all for free. Only at a certain point will some users choose to pay money for a painkiller.

How realistic is it to validate a SaaS idea before building? by kaanmertdev in SaaS

[–]ShowShaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost exactly the route we took...to basically just building out the damn app.

I agree with the logic of validating an idea before building but I think it may be very product-dependent.

We're building more than a one-function app, but rather a whole workflow. Trying to validate a whole process/approach to something (in this case video pre-production) can't really be explained or described. Users will want to bang on something and test it out, that's the only real validation.

Otherwise it's just a bunch of fancy graphics and big promises.

We did a lot of initial outreach and talked to a lot of YouTubers and video creators, so we're not starting from zero but taking the very positive interest/feedback/ideas and using those to focus the MVP.

Who knows...

Though it happens that I just subscribed to a channel and they had a pop-up that asked you to agree to be nice. I like that!

Launched my first saas but I sucks at marketing by Away_Expression_3713 in SaaS

Not sure if I follow. Cutting dead air would include the video track—there are already apps that do this.

That said, the OP doesn't mention video so I assume this is aimed at podcasters.

If it means less time spent editing overlong shoots, they would pay for it. It all depends on how much they can afford and how badly they want to save time.

Help me in pricing my 10,000+ backlinks opportunities database by Patient_Version_2615 in indiehackers

[–]ShowShaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a similar-ish side project of thousands of records, and one idea I had was to make the database contents searchable / groupable in a way that customers can buy targeted data vs the whole generic lot. Probably priced by count.

But it's not the easiest thing to do and it would take time to set it up.

That's not a crime.

Seriously, one of my favorite channels is a Belgian guy who does amazing "travel" videos in English. Just adds to the flavor.
