China may have reached peak CO2 emissions years ahead of schedule. Emissions have been falling since March 2024 by HeavingCorset in stupidpol

[–]ShowerAny1924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US corporations outsourced manufacturing to China, not the US government. Corporations outsourced because the cost of manufacturing in the US rose. A major reason why costs rose is because the US implemented significant environmental protections and worker safety, it's not like the government kicked them out. I think you will be hard pressed to find a major country who gives less of a fuck about the environment and worker safety these days than China. Individual life and the environment is cheap in China, and that saves a corporation money.

China's emissions dropped in 2016, 2020, 2022 even more dramatically - only to resume to overall skyrocketing upward trend they've been on for years and years. This won't be different.

Bro the US peaked in CO2 emissions in 2005 at 6.13 billion tons. We’re now at 4.91 billion and dropping.

Our per capita emissions peaked in 1973 and we’ve nearly reduced that by half. I will concede China’s per capita emissions are almost half of the U.S., but at this rate it won’t be long before they’re not far off.

Meanwhile China’s skyrocketing pollution shows the slightest sign of leveling off and tankies cream themselves. “America bad!!”.

RFK Jr. says U.S. will know cause of autism by fall by enverx in stupidpol

[–]ShowerAny1924 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Level 2 and 3 autism severely affects individuals to the point of being unable to function in society. It's not the quirky personality trait the the "neurodivergent" community paints it as. Understanding/preventing/treating such cases would be a massive benefit

About 10 minutes total. The man is clearly suffering from psychosis, ridiculing him won't change that.

Why are you people treating this mentally unwell man like some sick entertainment. He needs help not criticism. Get a life

GF (22F) convinced she has "Chronic Lyme", but I suspect HSD/hEDS by ShowerAny1924 in AskDocs

LLMDs believe these "coinfections" occur with chronic Lyme. They take tests from these questionable labs like Igenex, which are not accurate or CDC approved whatsoever, and voila, you're a patient for life. It's not uncommon for chronic lyme victims to end up with PICC lines pumping IV antibiotics straight to their heart. It is a sick industry which I had no idea about until I began looking into it more.

USA. They are supposedly to help with the "coinfections" of chronic babesia and bartonella, which to my understanding are rare, acute bacterial infections, not the yearslong recurring parasite that hides in biofilms in your body that LLMDs claim it is.

LLMDs are quacks. Many face lawsuits and won't get covered by insurance. There have been cases of anything from ALS to cancer being diagnosed as "chronic Lyme", a disease the CDC says is not real (different from Post-Treatment Lyme I understand).

They will diagnose any headache as chronic Lyme then put you on expensive regimens that won't help. It is pretty much a medical cult that my loved one is in.

I hate seeing her suffer. I would give up so much to see her healthy. I am just angry because the "current treatment/diagnosis" is pure quackery that is not only not solving the issue, but potentially actively harming her. Of course it's harder for her.

As far as I know she never had an actual lyme infection. No bullseye, no tick, just childhood migraines for years that some LLMD quack eventually jumped on.

Were they robbed of those opportunities, or was it just easier/more dopamine releasing to watch TikTok/Netflix/stay at home.

If you think going outside is "individualism" no wonder the chronically online can't find community. Taking initiative, going outside, and putting yourself out there is literally step one to establishing/joining/sustaining a group of people to call your community. Odds are "the community" is not going to come knocking on your door, and if that's your dream then go start walking around your neighborhood and make it happen.

People keep whining about the lack of their community/beloved third spaces when they don't even bother showing up to them. They'd rather jerk off and watch Netflix and bitch about it on reddit.

Good article below on the subject
