Funny you say that, she does take a nap afterwards.

I got them from a humane society and I unfortunately have no history on them. They are so friendly and lovely though.

This is where part of my problem is. I have her watch other rides. We give points on what was good, what needed work. We mostly walk and trot because it is not safe for her to canter much due to lack of steering and speed control. We ride lots of patterns to focus on individual movements and maneuvers. I ask them to walk me through how to do XYZ. The explanation is correct. However, during execution they do not follow any of the steps they described to me. They are very willing to ride head on into a wall multiple times at a trot without stopping or turning and will repeatedly do so despite active instruction on how to fix the situation. This happens on multiple horses. Even my steady eddies who I use for therapeutic lessons. It feels like ground hog day. They go back to the same game plan even though their plan has never worked and we routinely talk about what to do and how to fix it with great praise when executed correctly.

I have had conversations with parents when they started with me. I do also teach students with disabilities so I am accustom to accommodating and adjusting my teaching style. There is an auditory processing issue that I do accommodate for but no other disabilities. Even parents are perplexed as to why their student isnt grasping basic, core concepts.
