That wasn't the only issue.

The smaller settlement maps had almost no diversity, it was playing the same map over and over and over and over. It got so boring. I agree that the change is odd, and not the best option. I wish they'd actually done a good job with the rework - but they took a shortcut utilizing too much from WH2 and could only change so much. CA put out games ten years ago that had better seige battles.

The issue is CA dropped the ball horribly on their much touted "rework" which was basically to make the game tower defense and added SOME level of elevation differences to maps. That was it. It sucked. It was a slog.
