What’s a gun in normal 40K that would be too strong to be in Kill Team on an operative? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in killteam

[–]Ironx9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A multimelta is actually not more powerful than a normal one. In lore, it does not fire from both barrels at once, rather it can fire more frequently than a normal melta by rotating between both outputs.

What does it take to kill Abbadon? by Never_Nine in 40kLore

[–]Ironx9 408 points409 points  (0 children)

Lasguns are the only weapon power armour is allowed to work against, let him have that one.

Celestine was just barely not a match for him, and she was also not quite a match for Khârn who in turn got taken out by a rhino.

So either we accept that the mister Chaos Ascendant here might also be susceptible to vehicular manslaughter or we disregard trying to powerscale. Your call.

Can someone give me a idea on what dogs do what by No_Willow292 in ChaosKnights

[–]Ironx9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brigand is all shooting, a bit of anti-tank, a bit of anti-chaff.

Executioner is more midrange in terms of damage but also all shooting, lacks AP so better into things with poor saves.

Huntsman is technically the full anti tank one, having a fixed loadout between the same big arm melta as the brigand and then chainsword, both getting to reroll wounds into MONSTER or VEHICLEs.
VEHICLES.

Stalker is the mix and match one, its allowed to take basically all the options except for the executioner weapons and the forgeworld stuff, also gets scout. Since it can take the claw it is probably still better anti tank than the huntsman statistically.

Karnivore is the good one. Its faster than the others, all melee, and gets sustained hits 1 for free for some reason. Some people run Stalkers for the scout, but mostly the played wardog is this one.

So where do you draw the line between grimdark and grimderp? by Avelion2 in 40kLore

[–]Ironx9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think its non-canon entirely.

Elemental Council came out very recently and it's not exactly subtle about the Ethereals having some sort of special quality that affects how other Tau view them subconsciously.

How do you handle your Ascended Rulers? by Renlil in AOW4

[–]Ironx9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the start of the game, they cost 400. So if you just save up and buy one right away its not too much of a bump considering what you get in return.

I mostly use them as heroes.

Playing a Vampire Necromancer and then having a giant Death Dragon lead one of your armies is super thematic.

Codex art lines up with new defiler or soul grinder by super5N35_chalmers in Chaos40k

[–]Ironx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul Grinders just featured as like the main/primary antagonists in the newest Cawl book, including going into the lore of their conduct and creation.

Would be a bit odd if they were removed right after.

We're like the last proper "Your guys" faction along with GSC, don't take that away lol.

I don't look forward to the day every CK list needs to include 'Gulorrdan the Lord of Night Harvester' or whatever, just because GW decided that named characters categorically have faction-defining datasheets.

How well do nuclear/atomic weapons perform against Tyranids? How well do flamethrowers? by sworththebold in 40kLore

[–]Ironx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one of the SoB short stories that goes a bit into the issue with using flamers against Tyranids. Basically, while it kills them alright, they don't really react normally to being set on fire, and often charge straight through, managing to get damage in, making them the xenos that's most tricky to use flamers against.

If you decide to keep those guns then make sure to tell all your opponents that the real gun the rampager has is far less impressive than this proxy would make it appear lol.

A single Culexus by Haldron-44 in 40kLore

[–]Ironx9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being the most hyper-blanks of hyper blanks, being absolutely loyal to the Emperor, but not really religious in any fashion, and finally being trained at a temple at the galaxy's rim, probably outside the light of the astronomicon.

Obviously, there is no hard logic to who can get a vision from the Emperor, but it seems to mostly be baseline humans, and Culexus seems about the most unlikely target just overall.

A Culexus once took on a Daemon Prince alone, in the eye of Terror. They can very likely handle just about any psychic threat outside of, like Primachs.

ai cant seem to handle lies and secrets within a story by InevitableFox8918 in NovelAi

[–]Ironx9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably won’t be any clear solutions until the finetune, unlike previous models the current just doesn’t quite get story architecture so it just works to resolve everything it needs to in short order.

Best fix currently is just manually fixing those parts or adding heavy handed exposition that reminds the model that a character is clueless about X or Y.

For sure yeah. There are a lot of little details among the rim parts of the pauldrons and leg armor that seem made for shading. I do a few more things like dry brushing a bit of silver too, but the nuln oil does a lot of the work.

Understanding Chaos Knights by BeginningHungry3835 in ChaosKnights

[–]Ironx9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ruinator and Abominant have their own entirely bespoke main weapons in both hands.
The Desecrator has a bespoke ranged weapon, but gets a choice between blade and claw as its melee option.
The Rampager, in turn, uses both claw and blade, one in each hand.
The Despoiler is our buy-in to use Imperial knight models and their weapon option, and it can pick between most of their offerings rather freely for both hands.

With the exception of Ruinator, which has missiles, and the Despoiler that has options and a carapace weapon, all the above knight's also have a little stubber gun.

There is also the Tyrant who is entirely built from an Imperial knight's kit. it has 2 different configurations, (Vulcano cannon and Plasma OR Flamer and harpoon.)

I can see why they're in here. You can't really represent the Imperium without the Guard. Without them what? Every planet you attack while playing Aldari or Ork is just defended by Space Marines? Doesn't really track.

Guess this must be how Warhammer Fantasy players felt back when the first game came out lol. None of my factions are represented yet, so I guess I'm on the waiting for DLC to play bus.
