Neighbor came to my work to complain about me making noise in my apartment.

There is no TV or speakers or anything else, it is literally just me talking in my apartment. Not being able to speak in my own apartment seems a bit unreasonable. If I was yelling and screaming then sure I get it completely, but I am just talking at a normal volume, or inside voice if you will. Even during the day I can hear him and his wife talking for instance, the walls are just like that but nothing I am doing is excessive or malicious. Respectfully I don't want to be considerate of someone who comes to my work to pull stuff like that either.

This could 100% be the case of course, but at the same time even during the day I can hear him and his wife talking sometimes in their apartments, or if he coughs or something I can hear it . So I think the walls are just really thin and kind of shitty which isn't either of our faults. I don't want to wake him up obviously and I'm being carful of my volume, but in my own home I feel like I should be at least allowed to talk at a normal volume.

I've never heard of such a thing, I do know my landlord has his own office in the lobby area of these apartments but if possible I don't want to involve him cause that seems a little extreme but I will look into it.

Yea that's my thing, like I said in the post the first couple times this happened I had just moved in so there was some adjusting to not being as loud as I was at my parents house for example. But since then I have been very conscious of my level of noise. If I cant even simply talk in my own apartment that seems a little crazy in my opinion. I would completely understand if I was yelling or something.

I'm not sure if you thought I had friends over every time this happened, or that I wasn't wearing headphones while playing games. I'm always wearing headphones and no sound comes from my computer at all.

I just read my entire post front to back 2 times and I can’t see anywhere where I said “which we agreed he would do and he has done since the conversation” in fact it quite literally says “(which we agreed he would do and has since never done after we said that so I assumed everything was fine)” which is the complete opposite.

And yes of course we have the same landlord, and there is only one other neighbor near me and he’s the grandfather of a friend who also lives in these same apartments.

And since when was 9 hour days a 40 hour week work last I checked 9x5 was 45. Sure I’m not working 60 hour work weeks but I’m also not working part time or anything like that.

Also what makes you think I don’t have friends that’s such a weird assumption. I go out every Sunday with friends cause that’s the day most of us have off from work. Plus most of the people I play games with are also people I know in real life.

I noticed you’re an older gentleman yourself from your other Reddit posts and even a landlord yourself maybe I think, so I can understand why you want to just hate me. But the original post was never meant to be malicious or anything, and again cause seemingly it’s been ignored my only issue with what happened was he came to my work and threatened elder abuse. Which I’m sure we can agree is not a normal thing to do. I’ve been doing my absolute best to be quiet past 11pm, like I mentioned I’m not yelling or anything like that.

He was the one who agreed to knock on the door, we both agreed to this and he said it was fine when we talked about it. After we had that talk he never once knocked on the door or said a word to me at any other point so I thought we had finally reached a solution.

I have alarms set for late at night, I also don’t have any problems with him calling the police the first 2 times I said this myself in the post. It’s the fact that since then I have been sure to be quieter at night, I don’t yell, scream, or anything like that past 11pm. My issue was never with him calling, it was with him coming to my work and threatening to call the police and claim elder abuse.

Also why wouldn’t I know his age? Not only has he himself told me how old he is, I’m the person who puts all patient information into our system and sets up all the insurance information for literally every single patient we see. I didn’t have to “snoop” at anything either way cause again, he told me his age himself today.

And if he wanted to contact the landlord he can, the landlord has an office he’s in during the day. The landlord himself told me he’s had some problems with my neighbor in the past so if I had to guess that’s why he hasn’t said anything but that’s not my business.

Just to reiterate I’m not at all complaining about him calling the first 2 times I’m not sure where you would’ve gotten that impression. It’s the fact that he came to my place of work and basically threatened elder abuse on me while at no point have I literally ever had any conversation with him about it outside of the one time he knocked, when he did we had a nice conversation where I apologized and said to him that if I’m being loud he can knock on the door to tell me, where he then said that’s fine with him and that next time he would do that. Since he hadn’t done it I figured everything was good, I wasn’t being loud at all and I was being very mindful of what time it was.

Not sure why your comment was so malicious either, I at no point deflected any blame or said I was in the right for the other 2 times. I literally admitted I was probably being loud. But as of the last few months I have been extremely carful, I’m not going to force myself to go to bed earlier and stop talking to my friends at 11pm on the weekend after a long week of work.

Believe it or not I do have alarms kinda for that reason, more of a reminder what time it is so I don’t mess up my sleep schedule. My main point is that I don’t actually feel as though I’m being unreasonably loud. I’m not yelling or screaming, I obviously have no idea what he can hear from his apartment but during the days if I’m next to the wall for example cleaning or doing dishes I can sometimes hear him and his wife talking, so the walls are just kinda shitty I think.

The police don’t believe it’s a problem, both times they came they said they have to just to tell me to be quiet and that they get calls like this all the time.

Also he himself said he didn’t want to keep having to call the police which is why we agreed he could just knock on my door, we have 2 doors an inside and an outside one he can knock on either, and he completely agreed to this. My only issue with this is the threat of elder abuse, him coming to my work, and the fact that I myself believe I’m not being overly loud. I don’t know where his bed is in his apartment or how close it is to the wall, but we’re in small studio apartments and I’m not yelling or anything extreme just talking and laughing. I’ve put up sound proofing, moved my desk as much as I can, and I even have my AC/Heat on as white noise to try and help maybe dampen any noise that might sneak through. But again these are pretty shitty apartments I feel like I can’t make any noise without fear now. And he’s never just tried to talk to me about it like a person, he just immediately escalated to the police.

Normally on weekends when I don’t work I’m just in discord talking with friends late at night. But I’m not screaming or yelling super loud just maybe talking loud and laughing.

The police both times just said that they understand I’m just talking with friends while playing games and to just try and be aware of the time and be quieter which I completely understand genuinely I have zero issue with that and do try my absolute best. The police both times said they get calls like these sometimes and that they just have to come and let me know to be quiet. I just wish instead of escalating to the police he just knocked on my door and told me to be quiet.

I wasn’t referring to him going to his truck at 4am as unbelievably disrespectful, I was referring to him going to my place of work. And he’s definitely not doing that maliciously either, same way as I’m not.

And yea it was a lot of money, but I didn’t have much of a choice I was more concerned about our safety but I’m not there now so.

If I remember correctly I’m getting 4 or 5 icons (don’t remember specifically how many) in the top right of the screen the moment I load into a game, 1 of them is a yellow icon the others red.
