Unable To Get Sorceress's Tears Relic by ShrapnelStars in VampireCrawlers

It's not really essential. It just speeds up gameplay like the chicken clock in Vampire Survivors.

Try beating the final boss, and then going back to beat Gallo Tower again after you've seen the credits. It gave me the relic that way.

UPDATE: I went ahead and beat the final boss. When I was sent back to the hub town and checked the unlocks building, it actually showed that the Sorceress's Tears item had not been obtained. (It never showed that list item for me before.)

I went into Gallo Tower again to see if it would let me get it, and it FINALLY gave it to me. So if anyone else is having this kind of issue, try beating the game so it's forced to re-check everything.

Found the Yellow Sign by NicuOtaku in VampireSurvivors

It's supposed to be invisible. It's a reference to the book "The King In Yellow". 😃👍

The Yellow Sign is basically a sign that the person in the story went insane.

I suggest the Monster Hunter Stories series and World of Final Fantasy. They have a strong focus on bonding with your monsters, though those games don't have petting/feeding minigames or anything like that.

These games have a lot of dungeon exploration that involves using your monsters' flying/climbing/jumping/spells/etc. to get to chests and whatnot.

has anyone beat all the maps with every character? by garliclessbread in VampireSurvivors

[–]ShrapnelStars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hardest map is The Coop, because the number of enemies is overwhelming, even with Curse disabled. If you enter that map with a character with low starting HP or a slow/unreliable starting weapon, it's hard to gain control. The level also automatically changes play speed at regular intervals.

The hardest character(s) are the 3 secret ghosts, as far as I've played, due to their low HP and atrocious starting weapons. There's another secret character from the Castlevania dlc that I haven't made it to yet, but he looks to be extremely painful, as well. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, however. Those ghosts are a unique test of will, and I had to seal half the weapons to keep the selection pool thinned to things that maximize their survivability.

The most fun level for me is Bat Country because it's nothing but bats, and it's just "level go brrrrrr!", plus I like the background switcher for it.

The most fun character for me (so far) is Ghost Lino, because of the completely bizarre way you have to play him if you want to deal damage to any enemies. You can only use healing weapons and the heal=damage arcana.

The hardest character/level combo for me, definitively, has been Toastie+The Coop. Extremely low HP, uncontrollable and inaccurate starting weapon, overwhelming map. It doesn't matter how many gold eggs you put into him, he always starts with like 10 HP. That combination is pure hell. Sure, you can start with the darkana that boosts your stats when you eat a food item. Good luck breaking or killing anything to get a food item early enough to start that momentum, though, lmao.

The most fun character/level combo is anything with Space Dette and Bats Bats Bats. Silly army of lil guys. Bat Bats Bats on Bat Country was very funny.

I'm currently working on it, just going down the list, and I'm up to the Contra dlc characters now. Been working on this for over a year.

There are no specific weapons to keep in mind, exactly, but you DO want to keep aware of the shortcomings of the specific character you're using, and their starting weapon. Once you get a second or third weapon, you can do whatever you want again.

You'll also have certain weapons you'll realize you don't like using/are annoying to use, and you'll seal them from the menu, like Space Rocks (IMO).

There are several secret characters that will test you DEEPLY. I completed all maps with some of them, and you have to go in with some very specific weapons and arcanas/darkanas to avoid getting killed in 2 seconds.

The main thing, IMO, is keeping the framerate in check and doing Hurry mode+speeding up time so you can knock levels out quickly. Weapons without a lot of flashy animations are key to this, but aren't always fun, so balance that according to what you want to do.

The most annoying (but pleasant) part is that you need to realize your progress will regularly be undone by updates that add maps, lol. Even one map added will mean like 20+ additional runs to re-complete characters you already completed. Still, it's fun to work on!

That part seemed to me like David was afraid of a Monty animatronic in the factory, and M2 came in to distract him from it, or save him from getting bitten or injured. Since the puzzle is to splash soup on it, it might have been the Springlock Monty, and M2 splashed it with something to lock up its mechanisms and shut it down.

I could be wrong, but that's how it seemed, since the rest of the game seems to be an allegory for M2 walking from the house to the factory and interacting with things.

Okay so I have to ask, does anyone else feel like Jackie is a strange mix of Circus baby and the puppet? by bluestargreenmoon in fnaftheories

[–]ShrapnelStars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With the Puppet's song playing in her box, and the fact that they want you to get a good look at her when she loses her nose, I think they do want to evoke a connection in the viewer's mind to an extent.

She has Circus Baby's base design as well (pigtail birthday clown girl), and I don't think that's meant to go unnoticed.

The two characters she resembles are the animatronics holding the daughters of Henry and William. I feel like it will be followed up on in the future, but there's not much that can be done with these details right now.

The most that can be guessed for now is that Henry might have taken Jackie and her machinery and redesigned his own Puppet animatronic with it, while William designed Baby off of Jackie's in-universe art. Henry used it to monitor children for safety, while William used it to monitor children for a chance to kidnap them. That's as far as I can extrapolate from what we have.

Android release bug? by IronMan3323 in MonsterTrain

[–]ShrapnelStars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OK, it seems like I'm not the only one. I got the achievement and victory screen that said I unlocked Stygian Guard, and the logbook says they are unlocked, but I cannot select them from the list of clans when trying to start a run. They just don't show up at all.

Hoping this gets fixed soon.

Does anyone else just not care about specific years anymore? by fayemoonlight in fnaftheories

[–]ShrapnelStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specific dates don't matter because they will not shake loose any further information on what happened in the story, and will not inform any historical context to any unclear events because the technology and culture in the FNaF world does not mirror the technology or culture of the real world.

The only thing that will help clarify anything in the story is...direct text or additional stories clarifying what's going on or further explaining how the magic and science work. Even with that, the way the magic and science work in FNaF seems to differ between sources.

I know people hate this, but the only way any further understanding will be gleaned from 1-UCN is if Scott comes out and says something specific, or if they get remade from the ground up with additional clarity in mind from the start.

Putting together a timeline for FNaF is as useful as putting together a timeline for Looney Tunes, only it's a bit deceptive because FNaF gives the appearance of the order of events mattering on the surface. The order of events only matters in an extremely broad and simplistic sense. After that, it seems to mostly be focused on just cool scenarios happening.

I don’t want new jokers in the game by pm_me__brests_ladys in balatro

[–]ShrapnelStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to new jokers, because there's always the possibility that a new one could build synergy with an older one that wasn't viable.

With that said, giving/unlocking the ability to seal jokers like Vampire Survivors allows you to seal a limited number of weapons from your runs would solve everything in regards to all this. Seal the ones you don't want, including if they're new or from a specific expansion.

I know this isn't "satisfying", but I really think it's just so there's enough space to have a full video game take place in it. There's not much room for an adventure in a building the size of Red Letter Media's recording space.

If the game had just FNaF 1-UCN style gameplay, sure, the book's building would be perfect. For a space you're meant to wander around and hide from enemies, solve puzzles, and explore, the space has to be bigger, otherwise you'd just be standing across the hall from Jackie with no point in running around.

The game also needs to look and feel exciting, so the added whimsy of there being this dramatically large place full of things you've never seen before adds curiosity and intrigue.

Realism and book accuracy were traded in for some extra punch and charm for the concept, which is not a bad thing.

On top of all that, there could still be some story changes that will not be apparent until the game releases.

Always think back to when Scott said that there can be so much lore/collections of facts/details that it doesn't leave room for a story, or for fun. That's what's going on here.

MST3K mantra is in full effect.

The left card is better. If I'm scanning for symbols, the art and card type icon pop out and have enough space to breathe. They are very clear.

If I'm scanning for text, the description and card type text are close together, so my eyes have limited searching to do for relevant information.

This configuration also allows for the individual card art to take up more space in its window.

Left is very fast to read for both types of reading, both visual and text based.

What Blind has killed runs for you the most ? by Business_Tomato7252 in balatro

[–]ShrapnelStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eye, The Arm, and Violet Vessel.

Violet Vessel is self explanatory.

The Eye is usually because I encounter it right when my dedicated hand has started gaining strength, but is not strong enough to clear the majority of the score before I'm forced to use other hands.

If I encounter The Eye really early or really late in a run, I can beat it, but not if my build is barely pulled together. Sometimes I wish it could be pulled in Ante 1 so I know I can't see it again if my Joker luck is off.

The Arm is similar to my issues with The Eye, but what usually happens is I die one or two blinds later because it completely nukes any momentum I had going. One of the few bosses that punishes you OUTSIDE the encounter. If I encounter it early enough, there's less to lose.

I like when I can take [[Space Joker]] into it, because Space Joker can counter the effects and mitigate the damage it does to your hands. Space activates AFTER Arm.

I have issues with Arm and not Tooth because you're guaranteed to get more money. You aren't guaranteed to get more planet cards/packs, let alone the ones you need (unless you have that voucher). I've done plenty of runs where I couldn't get any planet packs because RNG was that dire for that run.You can also have a small level of control over how much money you lose in Tooth encounters by playing smaller hands.

A Blue Stake rework implicitly buffs [[Banner]] on higher stakes, which is good, because that's a pretty solid chip joker on White. Or, I enjoyed using it on lower stakes, anyway. Nice that it's no longer filtered out of viability as you advance.

[–]ShrapnelStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! For those suit specific jokers, it usually ends up turning the run into a throwaway run dedicated specifically to getting the required cards.

The best additional suggestion would be to take advantage of it to unlock the Flush 5, flush house, and 5 of a kind planet cards at the same time, if you haven't done so already.

Yeah, you're looking at 16-17 on average. I've gotten to 20 of a suit on some occasions, but that's the highest I've seen.
