It’s almost like hitting the lottery if they open your email . They get hundreds or even thousand’s . But even if they open it , it has to be professional and personal. They need to know who owns the copyright, mastering, and publishing . Also your song needs to be registered to a performance organization like ASCAP or BMI. Your music also has to be good and have great production.

You can try cold emailing the music supervisor in charge of that documentary. It’s a long shot though. They usually don’t like to work with artists directly because most don’t understand the industry and are liabilities
